Future Schedules

Hopefully we can get a school from B12 or a stronger G5 type team to fill that role, even a service academy wouldn't be too bad. But opening with Utah is a solid test to open the year and should be viewed respectably by the playoff committee.
It's going to be famu or bethune, just like every year.

Agreed; ACC is always a wild card however i like the nine we have lined up. If we go the G5 route, North Dakota State or Oregon State could be real challenges.

If the CFP expands like expected, we only need to finish amongst the top 8 to get a bye week so there’s much less risk in scheduling that 11th p4 game. If we want to go box-office, Ole Miss, USC, and Texas Tech still need ooc p4 matchups for ‘27 and ‘28 if we go the home and home route.

Separately; Indiana, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, West Virginia, TCU, Kansas, and Arizona will need to cancel (a) future ‘27 & beyond matchup(s) to fulfill that new tenth power opponents requirement.

Lotta teams to choose from if we go down this route.
Tex Tech would be wild. My boss is a Red Raider so I'd love that for the wager alone

Been going to games for 30+ years and these games never bothered me but I’ve finally had enough. Let’s find a 30/40 point cupcake instead of these same two 60/70 point cupcakes.
I get it - seems like a waste of time, but there are positives. The young guys get to hit someone wearing a different jersey. HBCUs get a chunk of cash that helps balance their budgets. Other than that... not much. lol.

But there's also no reason we should willingly put ourselves at a competitive disadvantage. Playing 11 P4s (when literally no one else does) doesn't really help the team. Scheduling a plucky G6 team that punches above its weight is a lose-lose. How many top 25, top 10, teams don't schedule an FCS team yearly?

Schedule is what it is (until uif decides to man up and play for the War Canoe, yearly). We play our 9 league games, one legit opponent, a MAC-or- Sun Belt and an FCS - just like Alabama and Georgia and Oregon and... Sure, they have more "competitive" conference opponents, but that's what the extra 20mil a year is for. Let us in the club, pay us the same, and we'll be happy to take on all comers.
