hey cane bros

I am loving the youth on offense but i am concerned about the defense losing key players who are seniors:

Willis
Johnson
MJ
Redwine

Plus junior potential departures
JJ and Shaq

Can you help me feel better

Thanks

ive been a bit concerned about this lately as well. its why i really hope rouseau heals up enough to play a couple late games (but keeping his redshirt)..and why i want Nesta, and Hall to get even more PT (and maybe switch Frierson to Safety now, and let him get a little PT).. the LBs we got coming in next year are fire, I think Huff and Keontra Smith (who i think will play striker) will come in and be great as freshman. EDIT: Meant Keontra Smith- not Reneto Brown. ha, don't know where i got that name.

Losing a lot but guys will be replaced by guys who have experience. Won’t be as good as this year on defense if a lot of the juniors leave early but will still be pretty solid regardless

Offense is going to have to win some games next year. With the lack of improvement from Ford, DT scares me.

LB I just don’t think anyone has any idea what we have behind the starters. One nice thing is that McCloud will be able to take one of the two LB spots.

Lbs will be fine if no one leaves. Just need to make sure you have enough depth at all spots cuz guys will have experience.

I think steed is waiting in the wings just haven’t seen enough of him. I’ll be more worried about the defensive line and depth for next year.

Worst case scenario if JJ, Shaq and mike p go pro:

-garvin and Rousseau at end is amazing, though depth is worrisome
-We WILL experience a decline in play by losing the best DT in college football, but bethel, Ford and silvera are a formidable top three
-Finley and D Smith at striker will keep getting better
-I feel very comfortable with Zach M, Steed, Jennings and (health permitting) Wilder at LB
-hall and carter will set the new standard for safety
-blades and bandy, with potential for bethel, Ivey and frierson to add more depth (and potentially at safety too)

We are in very good shape

Defensive Tackle is going to be a major problem next season. Even if Nesta comes in and plays at a high level. Kool really left us in a bad spot and we don't seem to be recruiting instant impact guys. We should be looking for a Junior College kid.

Defensive End lacks depth but isn't going to be short on talent. We'll be alright. Garvin is a top 10 NFL pick.

Linebacker, similar spot to last year with the tackles. None of those kids should leave early, but if they do its going to be a mess.

Safety, you dont replace JJohnson and think it wont hurt, he's elite on and off the field. Redwine is serviceable but we have guys with better skill sets ready to step in.

Sticker spot everyone returns. Smith and Finley will be even more comfortable. McCloud could move to a LB spot if Pink or Shaq leave.

Corner, MikeJack is an NFL player so it'll sting. But you have to love the kids ivey, blades, and gil. Bandy will be bandy, lock someone down like a dog.

Yeah, enjoy the rest of this year, next year, will take care of next year, comebaclk to the present!

If they snag 4-5 d ends they’ll be fine. If Ingraham commits, that’s 8 d tackles I think for next year.

How can you say Rousseau is amazing when he has barely played? The spring and fall hype? This is how you all become disappointed and then trash the kid if he isn’t an AA by his RS-So year. Not saying you specifically but it will be his first year REALLY playing. Let’s actually see him play before we start saying the kid is amazing. I like Rousseau and I am just as excited as everyone else is about him ...just not a fan of the premature labeling. Wouldn’t even surprise me honestly if Patchan starts along side Garvin next year.
Garvin is amazing yes, he has 15 + games under his belt and has done it. Rousseau hasn’t done anything, yet.

Hopefully 55 & 56 don’t make the mistakes RJM and Norton did last year. I’m not sure if 56 would get drafted any higher than they did. 55 would, but my point is they both need to come back, 10000% no questions asked. Even if one comes back, that would help us tremendously. Worried about DL for the reasons that have pretty much already been stated. We will have the numbers at DE, assuming we sign 3-4 guys, but likely only returning 2 with experience in Garvin & Patchan..once again assuming 99 leaves.

DT is DT, we need Silvera, Ford, and even Miller to ALL take the next step.

Renato brown playing striker 😂😂👍🏽

Remember when we were all worried last year about what would we do if Walton went down? Well, an untested Homer stepped up and the rookie DJ surprised us.
Remember when we were shook when both Norton and McIntosh decided to leave? Well, that worked out fine.
So the staff is gaining my trust in being able to replace and reload.

Concerned about the DL. Think we need to target more of these 6'3+ 230+ lbs DE kids instead of the developmental guys especially with our depth. Also need a legit DT(s) so we dont have to keep scouring JUCO every year.
