Funny as **** and it helped us rid ourselves of Folden!

I honest and truly believed in this guy! Cant remember the number of times I watched this guy's intro speech when he was first introduced as our new coach. Too stubborn for his own good.
Sideline Al could have been the #1 used car salesman at any dealership or car lot in America.

Done with you. I never said that is why he was retained. I said why would anyone ever fire a guy, hence a huge buyout, when the school is on probation.

Andif I remember correctly he was given a huge extension after a loss in his second year.

Randy was given a contract extension after his 3rd year, not his second.

Randy was a pretty good DC, but that’s where he should have remained. He had no people skills and Coker catered too much to him by firing Greg Mark and Vernon Hargreaves because they didn’t get along with Randy.

Then, when he took over as head coach, Randy fired John Palermo because he didn’t get along with Palermo either. Randy promoted Tim Walton to DC just because he was one of the few position coaches who got along with Randy. On the offensive side of the ball, he somehow hired Pat Nix. Randy lost games 51-14 and 48-0 his first year. TBH, I pretty much wanted Randy fired after that year. Instead Randy’s tenure dragged on 3 more years.

You say Randy was given an extension after third year. Did you mean Al? I thought I remembered him getting an extension in his second season. I googled it, and I found this from an AP article

Article says he was given the extension during a game in the 2011 season that took him to 2020. I am pretty sure 2011 was his second season.

2011 was Golden’s first season.

Golden was given an extension after going 6-6 his first year because there were rumblings about him going to UCLA. Randy was given an extension after 3 years because well, I don’t really know.

Randy finished 9-4 with a #17 final ranking after his 3rd season, and entered his 4th and final season just outside the top 10, which is why he recieved his WHOPPING 200k per year pay increase for ONE season. He wasn't nearly as bad as some make him out to be.

What race crap? Defending a Hurricane that happens to be black is considered racist?
Did I misinterpret your intent? I thought you were implying the Golden got more slack than Randy because he is white and Randy is AF. I grew up in North Dade and had worthless piece of crap brother who caused me no end of trouble -- much like Randy. I always felt a kinship to him that was a little more than the normal Cane family feelings of an alum and lifetime fan. That said, he didn't deserve an extension but it was classless to make him fight to get his severance package once they fired him. I don't if Al had to also, but if not. now we could be talking racism. It sure exist.

Also, I have often made the case that the reason Foote, Donna and the administration seemed hate our football program was that those young black men with a few white players and a some coaches, created the entire success of the program and took over college football on their own. It was not do to a big school support system, huge donor support, and dedicate administration. You black dudes succeed beyond belief with being beholden to anyone else, is just not an acceptable prototype for the likes of Foote and Donna. They hated it because it threatened everything they counted on for security. Those kids did this and that threatened them among their peers. Heck, maybe they would have criticized it is it had been all white kids for being all about white privileged but blacks kids from the inner city was just too much for those who count of blacks, or anyone ellse for that matter, being able to do something without their help to take. They depend on our dependence. You get my meaning, my Cane brother.
