Manny himself stated that their Freshmen year he was letting the 3 young LB’s play instinctively, since he didn’t want to overwhelm them with too much info.

Last season (their sophomore year) he implemented his full system. It’s not a coincidence that their play started to drop off after that.

Manny should live by the “if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it” mantra. Unfortunately he always wants to be the smartest guy in the room. Great coaches let play makers play fast and instinctively. Pinckney in particular is a beast when allowed to use his God given talent instead of having to overthink things.

I believe that Shaq is also a very intuitive player. He is a step slow to react because of overthinking things. If Manny simplifies his D and goes back to letting them just play like he did his first year here, you’ll see these dudes ball out again.

However, don’t hold your breath on him doing that, as he is stubborn as a mule. The definition of insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over and expecting different results. Manny Diaz unfortunately is yet to learn this very important lesson, and I fear that he never will.

As a defense they are missing way to many tackles. A lot of those qb runs we whiffed on the tackle. Again stop with the safety blitz to the outside everyone can see it is coming and everyone runs away from it.
