FUIAP: Barry Jackson says we suck

Jackson is usually solid but he rarely reports anything UM related that everyone here doesn't already know. They lost a bunch of guys on the D-line? No ****. Losing Young will hurt secondary depth? No ****.

Just restating the obvious.

The “concerning” part is that we are actually concerned about losing a few mid round draft picks, none of which did much of anything when the games truly became difficult.

Sure the roster has obvious issues but it’s not like we are trying to replace a roster of Pro Bowlers like we used to.

This is a bit of a stretch.

Walton was a very solid RB in all aspects of the game, including being one of the best gunners I’ve ever seen.

RJ blew up, or at least disrupted, a lot of plays. Norton was solid and good.

I realize you qualified your statement by saying they disappeared when it mattered, but losing those 3 would significantly hurt any team, outside the top 2 or 3 teams.

EDIT: I’ll also add that losing DJ Johnson, even if unproven, and Darrien Owens hurts. Owens in particular - we as fans always downplay the guys that aren’t superstars as being expendable, but those quality snaps you get from backups are key to keeping starters fresh and healthy. Sure, we probably get them back from Wilder and the other young guys, but I would’ve rathered open competition between all them with the winner seeing the snaps.

Exactly, sometimes it's addition by subtraction. Who's to say one of the new CB won't step up and be better that Young (with all do respect to him). I'm more excited about the new talent getting a shot.

I think his sentiment is pretty accurate, our defense may take a hit unless a number of things go our way. I’m curious why he repeatedly highlights the fact that our recruits have said they had a good visit somewhere else. What the heck else does he expect a recruit to say after he visits a school? The place sucked, I’m not going there, the coaches are jacka$ses? C’mon man

This. It's clear he doesn't really follow recruiting at more than arm's length.

And everybody knows we need to close, especially on our DL targets. Writing that article before NSD is dumb because a lot can change in 2 weeks

The issue is depth. We need 3 more DL (4 ideally) and 2 more DBs for our numbers to be where they need to be.

All you did was list a bunch of names. Anybody here can do that. I see a bunch of inexperienced guys who haven't done much of anything here. **** some haven't played a down yet. I see redwines name and I think " well here's a guy that started that wasn't very good at all".

Miami's defense does have a lot of question marks and lost a bunch of guys from a defense that was already questionable from the year before.

So we have 4 CB's that will be freshmen next year and DL recruiting is not over. We are leading for Briggs and Chatman. If we land these two that will help, plus Andrew Chatfield is still a strong possibility at DE. I want to land the AH players just as much as any true Miami fan but lets say we bring in 6 CB this year, how many will really play?

he's saying everything the board doesn't want to hear. the glory days are farther away than most realize or want to admit but this 2018 class playing early and often could expedite their development with us needing 2019 class to be just as much of a monster to stockpile talent and depth.

Surtain or Campbell are DAY 1 starters here. Absolutely nuts if one doesn’t come.

Bandy and Mjack are a stout duo my man. Very very stout on fact.

I suggest you give bandy a lil more time before you crown him.

You're right, Bandy is only going to get better. Scary thought

I agree, I thought bandy was the 2nd best CB last year behind MJ.

I stopped reading after they listed Jamie Gordinier as one of the 2 best backup linebackers on the team.

Which is sad, because that's not what the article said.

"Two of the team’s best backup linebackers are gone". That's what it said. If you are going to criticize Barry Jackson, rip him for vague language. Two of the best backups? Sure, what a HUGE list. How PRECISE. Yes, it is a ridiculous statement. Yes, any linebacker on our roster could be one of the "best backup linebackers".

But once again, poor reading comprehension skills cause someone to overreact about a Miami Herald article. "Two of the best" is not the same as "the two best".

Work on it.

Ahh yes. The kid who has 1 tackle in his entire career at Miami and its against FAMU is one of the best backups. Had he became healthy and lived up to the hype then maybe he could have been good here, but he didn't. I didn't overreact, I just decided this guy is trying to skew the facts in oder to pad his article. It has nothing to do with reading comprehension I have a UM degree just like you.

It only takes a few minutes to read the new messages that posters put on this forum each day, it will then become obvious that forum populated by many intellectually challenged individuals.

Because I am new I can't possibly be as intellectually superior as a guy who has been here for a whole 11 months! Makes a lot of sense. If you think Jamie is one of the 2 best backup linebackers on the team then you are a **** moron who doesn't know **** about football.

When are soft-shouldered people going to stop exaggerating and falsifying what the press says about Miami.

In no way, shape, or form does Barry Jackson say that the Miami Hurricanes "suck".

What is it going to take for Miami fans to stop overreacting to every minor perceived slight?

We have a bunch of Johnny Fontane fans who need to be slapped around and told to "act like a man".

Hey tough guy I was being sarcastic with the title so why don't you GTFOH or better yet put your gag ball back in and head back to the basement.

So losing Folden's guys and replacing them with Rick's guys is supposed to be a bad thing? If it is, then we're in a world of hurt in more ways than this. This is year 3. No more lame excuses. We should be upgrading at every position now that Rick's recruits are replacing Folden's.

“We are going to get blown out at va tech/Notre Dame”
Go fantasize some more about those teams embarrassing us again like you said they would before the game
