"Do Something" means dance and watch movies. Not practice.

haven't been to the theater to watch a movie since Top Gun and I'm almost 40. Still can't figure out why movie theaters still exist.

Tbf, if it's an Imax theatre with high quality video and sound, I'm all in.

But honestly, just on hassle alone, my home theatre works fine. :)

Same here at 64, I very seldom go... haven't been in a couple of years. I go ******* ballistic when around me people are rudely talking away during a movie. Very close to fighting several times.

They really need to be watching Fifty Shades of Grey.

Because we'll dominate their ***.

Some movies have to be seen at a decent theater.can't get the same acoustics at home.need a very big screen for some of those scfi films.plus the popcorn with extra butter helps out latter at home with the misses..

Im intrigued... are you saying the butter on your fingers helps when you digging that **** later? It’s an aphrodisiac? You’re lactose intolerant and your wife likes that? You like to give her pink eye?

So you were like 8 when you last went to a movie theatre??? You really think you knew something about movie theatres at 8???

Also, you never took a chick to the movies??? That is sad bro!!! That's a huge reason why they exist, especially when you're a teen!!

Also, theatres now are way better. Go and watch like a Star Wars or one of the Marvel movies at IMax.. you can't replicate that quality at home.

You don't get the same acoustics at home.

If you have any idea what you're doing, you get way better acoustics at home.

And screen size is based entirely on viewing distance. So... no to the need for a very big screen too.

LMAO at this thread. Bunch of dudes hurt because people don't like going to the movies (I'm on their side) and people saying you "can't replicate" the experience at home.

Going to the movies is spending $20 per person just to see something before it's released to home audiences. And then you sacrifice zero privacy and no ability to press pause and take a leak or eat whatever you want. People talking, cell phones ringing, kids crying and have fun finding a decent seat. So more money and a ton of inconvenience just because you can't be a little patient. It's insane to me.

The only thing you're not going to get at home (most likely) if you know what you're doing is the projector. A decent receiver, some good speakers and a 7.1+ setup is infinitely better because your proximity to the speakers is much, much closer. IMO a high end projector nowadays isn't all that much better than a mid-tier LED.

For the record, I hate going to the movies... But there are exceptions.. Star Wars movies, I need to watch those on IMax... Marvel movies too.. basically movies that are very visually appealing like action and sci-fi flicks.. I would say i go to the movies about once a year. I still remember watching Jurassic Park at the theatre (the $2 theatre on bird road and 117thish). It was amazing!

And then there's the social aspect.. when you're a kid, going to the movies with your friends, girlfriend, etc., sneaking from one movie to the other, all of this is basically a rite of passage.. it's one of those first venues where you get to be independent as a teen.

So there is some value to the movie theatres
