On paper the roster is stronger than 2023.

Everyone seems to think Dabo wants the Alabama job and they want him.

Why? Clemson hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire since Trevor Lawrence left. I don’t think Sweeney runs his program the way Saban ran his. I don’t think he’s a cultural fit for Alabama, despite his time as a player there 35-40 years ago.

WR production in college is mostly based on System & QB.

There are always outliers who can play above & beyond their system, but for the most part, it doesn't really matter how talented a WR you are if your QB & Offense stinks.

Differences for sure, but are we expecting logic from Bama fans and boosters?

Honestly, who is a fit for Bama? Their expectations are not reasonable. They would just look at Dabo as one of them with two rings. Something no one else has that’s under the age of 75 and potentially available.

The only thing Dabo is really missing, is an infusion of Portal talent.

He relies too much on HS recruits who take much longer to develop, while the top teams they play every year have fully adjusted & compound their rosters with experienced veteran Portal players who are already acclimated to intense CFB play.

He's too stubborn; if he would just get with the times & integrate Portal prospects into his roster building, it would probably be enough to put them back in Natty contention.

I agree, but Horton provided and continues to provide nothing special. He is just a guy that won't ever be drafted.

they 100 percent would take him there and he is definitely a culture fit there he is from bama lol

**** a ffriend of the family of mines is one of their biggest guys and he stated dabo would be the guy and he was all in on dabo...so i doubt those thoughts changed.

College football is a whole different animal with conference realignment, the transfer portal, NIL, and now revenue sharing. Alabama should want someone who they believe can tweak the organization as it was run under Saban but adapted to the modern business model.

What I don’t believe in is hiring the ‘guru coach’ and everything else falls into place.

I agree Dabo has been stubborn to adapt. This might be the first year he’s brought in multiple players of any significance from the portal. I think he realizes he has to adapt or settle for less.

I understand Dabo walked on at Alabama 35-40 years ago. By culture fit I mean the way he runs his program is different than how Saban ran the show at Alabama. Maybe Dabo is adapting. He went out and hired new coordinators rather than promoted from within.

Did Alabama try to hire away Dabo when Saban retired? Or did the A.D. go rogue and hire the HC from Washington?

What Dabo doesn’t have is an elite quarterback or skill players. DJ was a big-time miss, and while Cade is better than DJ, he’s overrated by anyone who thinks he’s elite. Not everyone can be Trevor Lawrence. Those guys don’t come around very often.

Trenches… splash plays always dominate the highlights but you own the trenches your gonna win a lot of games.

Saban was relentless about having the stable full of horses on both sides. Just a year removed and they were getting moved around and caught an embarrassing “L”

Today reminded me a lot of our game against A&M back in 2023. We looked much better than 2022, pushed around a ranked SEC team (later found to be very overrated), and thought we’d figured out our issues.

Castellanos is a massive upgrade at QB compared to last year. This FSU offense has a pulse. However, one thing I noticed is that they can’t run north south, overly rely on eye candy, and don’t have a consistent passing game. A lot of passes that Castellanos sailed today. Additionally, their secondary was Swiss cheese today. Lofton is gonna have a career day against those guys with the cushion they give everyone. Bama just couldn’t execute. They also abandoned the running game way too quickly. Defense was also soft.

FSU is going to probably be a 7-5/8-4 team (way better than the 5-7/6-6 expected. However, they have zero depth at almost every position (their own words) and as we have seen since ~2014, Malzahn offenses have a tendency of starting the year hot and flaming out. His system leads to a lot of wear and tear, which is suboptimal for a team with almost no depth. Castellanos also started 2024 hot and faded.

So yes, better FSU team but also some red flags. Particularly in the secondary. Get them behind the sticks on early downs and the mistakes will pile up

the way deboer runs it is different than saban.

Dabo brings his guys and then hires the guys he coached and then promotes like that because thats how he got the job at clemson.

The ad likely panicked and the agent sold on the shiny objet of Deboer. Dabo likely would have had to be pried a bit away from clemson in that moment. And he seems loyal to staff probably more than any opther hc so didnt uproot...but please believe if its a planned thing hes at the top of list for the most part.

clemson had GREAT QB PLAY BEFORE TREVOR LAWRENCE. **** they go back to Charlie Whitehurst pretty much on a run of good to great qb play. Plus its a rinky dink gimmick offense anyway.

Part of the issue they had was they ALSO missed at ELITE WRS. Look at that wr run they had as well. They are getting back to that with id say their last 2-3 recruiting classes.
