We have a lot of Italian Americans in the north part of Sonoma County in the Healdsburg area and Napa too - with vineyards that go back to the early 1900’s now from when they moved here from Italy. They do Italian varieties/styles. There’s a few even doing Americans versions of Super Tuscans. I’ve had a few.

I really like different grapes from different parts of the area though. There are so many micro-climates, it’s amazing how extreme the differences can be in what does best in each area. Sonoma and the Coast do Pinot Noir well. Anderson Valley in Sonoma is stellar for that. Napa is great with Cabs and bigger wines.

I'm half ******....Dad was born in Romania to a Romanian Mom and Austrian Dad....but I have the Italian looks...

That’s really amazing, Napa Valley's vineyards are so well regarded even here (we are very jealous about our wines). It's fascinating to think about what men can do with the right environmental circumstance. I'd love to get a ride in those places.

Dan's protege got the Clemson job, and they are tightly connected. People were surprised when I told them not to focus on "F$U" as our buddy, but Clemson. Now it's becoming very clear.

I'm a huge fan of Peay Vineyards, in NW Sonoma.
