Yeah, it's not like Miami wasn't pathetic at that during the first couple years at No Life. They'd announce like 48k, and there'd be you, and three guys over on the other side of the field.

The differing way it gets covered by the media, however....

Florida State, which won the 2013 national title, last season had a scanned attendance that was 57% of its announced attendance. FSU spokesman Rob Wilson blamed personnel and technical issues in scanning tickets and said, “We do not believe the difference is as large as the data appears to show.”

I don't know how FSU does it but Miami uses tickets sold for announced attendance. So all the people who bought season tickets but don't bother showing up for the noon game against some bum team still get counted. That's how they would announce like 42,000 people at games when there was clearly under 30,000 people actually in attendance.

Miami is one of the few places in college football where attendance has actually gone up the last few years.

Yeah, I was shocked and also proud at the amount of Canes at Doak Campell last year. After the game throughout all the tunnels behind the stands, it was like a hurd walking out yelling, it's great to be a Miami Hurricane!!
