Fsu Pushing Keir Thomas Out

Take a seat young'n and let me school you to some knowledge...You missed my point. While we were getting guys like Sean Taylor out of Miami Gulliver who was a 3 star recruit...FSU wanted the #1 Safety in the country instead who I believe was Yohance Buchanan at the time out of Atlanta GA. While we were getting Willis McGahee out of Mia Central. FSU wanted Nick Maddox out of North Carolina. (#1 RB in the country)

While we were getting Frank Gore out of Coral Gables. FSU went all the way to California to get Lorenzo Booker. (he was the #1 RB in the country)

While Butch was hanging out with Andrew Williams at JUCO and ran into some kid from Ely High named Jerome McDougle and convinced him to shun UGA and come play for the U..FSU went all the way to freakin country a$$ Americus, GA AND Waco TX to get Alonzo Jackson and Kevin Emanuel. Two of the top DEs in the country.

My timing might be a little off because its been so long but you get my point. We were holding the "State of Miami" down and "that little corner" wasnt enough for FSU. They wanted the whole **** block. And that was apart of their demise in the early 2000s.

And this thing is coming full circle again and you can see it happening slowly but surely..as they say, "Its happening, isnt it?

Yeah, you got some of those dates mixed up, and FSU always heavily recruited the state of Miami.

Gore (wasn't recruited heavy by Butch. We wanted Lyell Ross and some other backs, IIRC) was class of 01 and Booker was class of 02. They also got Leon Washington in 2002.

Willis was class of 2000 and Maddox was 1999. In 1999, we went to Gainesville to sign Clinton Portis and to Chicago to sign Jarret Payton.

Don't know why you brought up their DE from TX, when we ignored plenty of local DBs to sign Marcus Maxey. We also signed Antonio Warren and Jovany Ward, who I don't think ever played football again. We missed out on a lot of other quality DBs during that era (most of these were not recruited): Torrie Cox, Chris Gamble, Asante Samuel, Bennie Sapp, Abram Elam, Curry Burns, Derrick Gibson, Malcolm Tatum, Stanford Samuels, Juliam Battle, Willie Middlebrooks, Brian McFadden, etc...

In-fact, the state to TX was very good to us in that era: Bubba Franks, Damione Lewis, Daryl Jones, etc...

I don't know how Andre Wadsworth wasn't at least evaluated by our staff, but he goes to FSU and ends up being a top-3 pick.

I put in a disclaimer that my dates might have been mixed up but I am sure you guys get my point. The reason why I mentioned Kevin Emanual and Alonzo Jackson was to make the point that FSU made a living off shunning "the state of miami" and going after national guys in their heydey.

I never said TX wasnt good to us. They were GREAT to us during UTs down years and Butch and a great rep in that state because of his Cowboy days.

Alot of those names are your list were not UM caliber at the time..BSapp and ASamuel were not. ASamuel was a QB his Sr year I believe. I always liked Chris Gamble as an athlete. But he played WR at Dillard and no one could have projected how he was going to develop. Corey Burns only got looks because his half-brother was Elvis Dumervil. He was okay at Jackson but he wasnt UM caliber.

Marcus Maxey played his a$$ off for us in 2005 buddy. Horrible example.

Wadsworth was 6'5 210 when he came out of a private school in Miami. (I think it was Westminister) Bobby got lucky with that one and I think even he would admit that.

Wadsworth was all-state at Florida Christian. It's not like he was a kid that the locals didn't know about.

Samuel and Sapp were quality athletes, which we made a living out of recruiting. Chris Gamble started playing football I think during his junior year, and he did play some corner in HS (usually in the redzone to cover fades). He was also rated high and had offers from top programs for a reason. Elvis Dumervil was class of 02, which was before one his 37 adopted brothers were getting recruited. James Dumervil and Corey Burns were class of 2000 and were getting noticed a lot earlier than Elvis. Both were all-state selections and they were UM caliber, when they were better options than the other guys that we signed. I don't remember, but did Maxey even earn a starting job, or was it by default? Weren't both Jennings and Sharpe our opening day starters?

I remember the Wadsworth story well because the media pushed that down our throats over and over again. That dude didn't even have a scholly offer from FSU. He walked on.

Yeah, I don't know how no one noticed him when he was an all-state selection, though. I know it's Florida Christian, but he did break their 100m track and field record.

Chris gamble played one year of ball.(b ball guy at Dillard the best ball program in broward) Was likely the best wr in broward and lined up sparingly at CB.

Bryant McFadden was my highs school teammate and friend..was recruited hard by um..Butch came by school. He went on his official to fsu and cookie Thomas showed him around and Peter Warwick had a bday party at the club and it was a wrap.

Elvis Dumervil did well at um camp. I know because I was there and in his group lol. Um was looking more so at Taurean Charles, there also was a kid from jax last name Anderson, and John Wood (American High)..but Dumervil had like a million sacks on Dade that year and did what he wanted at that camp.

I remember the hype around John Wood. One of my friends played on the same Dline as him at american and went to Minnesota before coming back to FIU. I think he got kicked out of UM during his freshman year.

I don't know much about Thomas. However, at 6'-1"/240, he has outstanding measurements for ILB. Does he have lateral quickness?

He's got the frame to put on another 30-40 lbs. once he gets to a collegiate S&C program. He'll be on the d-line at the next level, not LB.

Officially decimated from FSU. Sucks being pushed out like that. Wish the kid the best of luck. Seems Auburn bound.

Lol, you just made that entire ******* thing up. Next time do some research before you take any more young'n to school.
Jesus Christ, when you are giving a history lesson, the dates are the most important thing.

What part was made up? The Andrew williams/Jerome McDougle story is FACT.

The timetables are at best a year off. But you missed the overall point. Butch was locking down SoFla while FSU was recruiting nationally. When it comes to recruiting, there are few people on this board who can hang with me buddy. I only respect a hand full of people on here (Prop Joe/Geo305, etc) because most of the people like you just rely on the internet and really dont know **** about HS recruiting esp in SoFla. But thanks anyway!

I think Dumervil was a Butch miss no? I just know he was a monster at Jackson. Kind of reminds me of some of the kids we are passing on this year. Shakur Smith, and the other sack king in Dade..his name escapes me. But guys that just get to the QB.

Gamble was an athlete X10..Went to Nova middle IIRC and whooped those inner city kids in bball. They said he just played JS bball for the ring. Dillard had a dynasty during that time.

Dumervil was class of 2002, so he was miss by larry coker. Dillard in football went to states during Gamble's senior year and lost to Palm Bay hs.

Here's the thing about kids like Shakur Smith and Dumervil...when Butch was HC, when did we ever recruit undersized DEs?

C. Green, J. Green, A. Wiliams, J. Mcdougal were all at least 6'2. Alton Wright and John Square were tall. ****, we went to Texas for a lot of Dlineman.

Rashard Jeanty was a miss in 2001. He played 2 years of college and rode out to Canada. Ended up starting for the Bengals at LB. His teammates at carol city, Willie Jones and Peterson, turned out to be busts and they were undersized.

Just remember the Weaver twins out of MNW. Still, they were switched to LB and neither of them were ever productive and barely played. Also, they were the only undersized kids that were recruited, and that was likely due to them being very high twitch athletes. The one that went FIU was the fastest kid on the team the year that he transferred over and the one that stayed at UM ran in the 4.3s. They were very high twitch athletes.

Sounds like Auburn and Miami sill in the mix. Just glad for the kid when FSU dropped hm, he had enough time to still do what is in his best interest.

-Palm Bay had Reggie Nelson and a bunch of big time kids. Dillard was LOADED every year....its actually crazy watching them be almost a doormat because how deep Dillard area is/used to be. Alot of the kids that use to go to Dillard are getting spread out to the privates in broward..(ST thomas, U school,Gibbons, Heritage)

-Correct..Dumervil was extemely undersized..but Just looking at his stature his **** hands were down to his knees...(wingspan) and he wa sextremely strong...(i worked out with him one off season at his house in the garage..his dad was like an s&c coach and throwback sh*t he ha dus doing)

-Carol City was LOADED on their dline for like a 4 year period....Rashad Jeanty was a beast...Willie Jones was an all american and dade sack leader recruited by everybody...but was a lock to fsu (his lil bro is in nfl now played lb for fsu last year)..Peterson wasnt a bust or undersized either..they were all solid size...Peterson went to Rutgers. They werent bust i dont think just average players there. The Freak (ricky francois) was actually at Carol City the same time as well. So that was a team with 5 div 1 dlineman on the roster...as well as pumping out div 1 linebackers after in Willie Williams who transferred over from Pace.

Man i miss real recruiting talk like this on the board.

Good job Barboni and Jassid of bringing it back to life.....I';m waitring for DMONEY and the crew to start a thread about their area guys (columbus, down south kids)....

Naw I just messaged his grandfather and he said Miami has been lukewarm with him. I'm hoping the next coach show him love cause Kier is a **** beast

Sounds good. I'm from down south and have coached down south for both optimist and hs (Columbus and SFE). My mom lived in Broward, so I had friends that played at BA and a few other schools in the area.

That CC Dline was loaded, but nobody to this day believes that Willie Jones had 39 sacks in 1 year. Especially with Peterson and Jeanty supposedly each having around 20 a piece. I think American actually had the #1 scoring defense that year with John Wood and Damian Haye. Looking back, there's been a big drop off in front 7 talent for that area. If you include Norland and Pace, thats near 10 D1 Dlineman and I'm not sure how many LBs.
