If Richt still remembers how to call plays on offense then we should really win division based on our offense alone

Offenses scored a lot less back then. Today 37-39 ppg is slightly above average.

He whooped us quite a few times in that stretch.

We have a coach that has a chip on his shoulder and is back to doing what he loves to do. I feel this is going to play out great for us and our offense.

Hope he can pick up were he left off after 16 years. Glad the first couple games are easy wins so Richt is gonna be fine when ACC play starts

While this is true, it still is a bit better knowing that the HC has been highly productive before - versus a HC who hasn't done much....

I think he'll do a fine job with the offense (and as the HC)...he's been very successful his entire coaching career, he's a very good recruiter and he'll be able to get a lot of the top south Florida players to stay home....

It's ancient history and we'll have to wait and see what he can do now.

yet there are still numbnuts out there that think Richt is a ground and pound kind of guy

I think Richt was burnt out in the SEC. I didn't realize how bad the SEC officials controlled the tempo of games until after he was fired. I can't imagine how disheartening that must have been for a man to basically be told he can't run his offence the way he wants to.

What? Please ellaborate.

I'll see if I can dig it up.

There was an article that came out discussing that the SEC runs the lowest numbers of plays and encourages the officials to discourage fast tempo offenses. It was an enforced unwritten rule.

So how does one go about discouraging faster plays?

What is an enforced unwritten rule and how the heck does one enforce such?

I wonder if the author of this supposed article believes in Bigfoot, Nessie, UFO's, 911 was an inside job, the lunar landing was all Hollywood, Chupacabra's, etc.

Supposedly the officials took their time blowing the whistle for the plays to start.

The officials slowed play down. Check the amount of plays per game and where SEC teams rank. Check where the SEC ranks against other conferences. SEC officials have a lot of control. Just ask Kellen Winslow Jr.

UGAs offense, which is a more recent comparison was pretty feast or famine during his tenure. Wasnt bad by any means but never really resembled those FSU teams.

Not sure why digging into stats from almost 2 decades ago is relevant.
