Besides that, no, there have been no double blind placebo controlled studies on masks and covid19? Why, because that’s very difficult to do, and would take a long time. People just need to wear a mask. Epidimielogical studies are basically an oxymoron, they are far from empirical and littered with uncontrolled variables. Masks are to protect others from you.

Why this is so difficult for the mouthbreathers to understand is beyond me. When you have a disease that is spread through droplets, LIMITING the reach of said droplets is an important concept. In other words, if I can wear something that keeps my droplets to myself, that means the odds of me spreading this thing to someone else, if I do have it is significantly reduced.

It‘s an absolute fact that the CDC, the WHO, and Fauci were advising against masks early in the pandemic. That’s an indisputable fact.

There was literally nothing that changed between March and today, regarding the effectiveness or lack thereof of masks.

So either they were idiots then, or idiots now. I choose to believe they were idiots then.

I also choose to believe that they deliberately lied to the public back in February/March. That’s not how you get people‘s trust, especially when the general public is so lacking in education regarding basic science

Now I’m not an anti-mask guy, I believe there is merit in wearing them (mainly not to spread, very little evidence they protect the wearer, unless it is a well fitted N-95), but spare me your superior attitude.

If these powers-that-be had been straight with the public from the beginning, we may not have this issue

Let me guess, you weren't paying attention when Americans were panic everything they could get their hands on. Fauci and the public health officials KNEW that we didn't have nearly enough PPE(Which include masks) for medical professionals, much less for the general population. Even when you go back and read Fauci's comments, it's obvious as **** that he wasn't saying what the "Muh Freedom" idiots want to believe. What he and the public health apparatus was attempting to do was buy time. They were hoping that if Americans were able to socially distance and STAY AT HOME, they could get mask and PPE production up to the point in which then they could have enough for everyone.

Unfortunately, what we learned was that the typical American is stupid as all get out and couldn't(Or wouldn't) do those two basic things. So, that's why we had to go to straight mask usage, no questions asked. If there were enough masks available when this thing first broke out, I'm quite sure public health officials would have been a lot more insistent on usage. That said, this country couldn't afford to have Cletus hoard masks, when medical professionals were under extreme duress.

Cut the nonsense, wear the mask. Not a complicated concept. My spouse is an ER RN, she wears a mask 12 hours a day, 4-5 days per week. I don't think it's too much to ask for dumbasses to wear them for an half hour when they go to the grocery store during a global pandemic. Then again, the same idiots that whine about the masks are also the same people that have a problem with people demanding rights that civilized societies should provide without discussion.

I am not a fan of Fauci. He screwed over people with AIDS in the 1980's, by not pushing for a study on Bactrim for Pneumocystis, and then he wasn't nearly aggressive enough early on. He said shaking hands should be banned, but you can have *** with a stranger? I'd hate to see how he shakes hands. Fauci admitted he was lying about masks initially, to protect the supply of PPE for health care providers. I know from talking to patients that there's a split on whether to wear masks, but I also know that a lot of people are deathly afraid of the virus, especially older patients. Many are still sheltering at home, six months after this mess started. The mask gives them some sense of security that they can at least go to the store and get out a little. The mask prevents the spread of droplets. It doesn't protect you when you wear it, it's to protect those around you.

Hot take: The FSU/UM game gets postponed because of an outbreak at FSU. FSU has been sloppy as fck since the start, and those mongoloids were all shoulder to shoulder at the game. Add that in with the team being a bunch of undisciplined ***** who probably want the season canceled, and I can see them being a big problem with cancellations.
