Revisionist history. In 1997, people claimed (like they do now) that we had enough talent to beat teams like Pitt and West Virginia and stay within 47 of Florida State.

Waited? Before Saban hire they had a petiod of bad coaches that were fired. We have had 4 poor hires in a row. Maybe the future will mirror bama’s success, but the dynamics are different in Coral Gables. I doubt if we will ever be an elite program again. Cfb today is a different landscape and we don’t have the necessary components to be one of the players.

Those people were living in the past and not being logical. You take 31 scholarships off a roster and you are going to struggle BIG TIME. Now is nothing like 1997. Not even **** close.

Man, I remember the roster, and the HUGE holes in it. But yeah, that had nothing to do with our 5-7 record.

At least be accurate. We were never down 31 scholarships. And we were at full strength when Butch lost a game with the best team of all time.

You aren't good for my blood pressure. Butch also beat the #1 team in the country that year, and had us at #2, and we should have played for the title. Yeah, such a disaster Butch was for us.

I don’t care what we were. Almost all other posters on this forum have stated that our 10-0 record was done with smoke and mirrors. Your opinion is based on your homer mentality. Reality set in . Since Pitt loss we are not even a mediocre team. We are a bad team. The future looks bleak even with a hc change. We are an after thought in college football. No top coach wants to get buried here based upon what has happened since 2003.

injuries set in is what actually happened.

no top notch coach has ever wanted to come here.

we are an after thought right now because it's been a lousy season.

no other team moves up the ranking as fast as Miami does when Miami has a pulse.

You blame last years collspse on injuries. This year you can use the excuse for our dismal performance on bad coaching, bad qb and bad o line. Good to great teams have the depth to overcome what you deem as reasons. As stated, we are a bad team and I see nothing in the future that will change that reality. Being a homer at this disastrous time in our fb history will accomplish nothing. Reality of what we have become is the first step toward change.
