From the 🐐 mouth

Unearned glory. Pretty much sums it up.

And it’s starting younger and younger with kids. Social media is a big part of it. They’re infected young, so figuring out how to rid that disease is a big part of the puzzle.

Da Truth.....

Here's another annoying "unearned glory" dik head right here-- can't stand this big mouth, low results idiot:

Didn’t nesta say something about “do you even know what humble is?” I hope he isn’t talking about Ed in that. Wonder how the players feel about Ed coming on? They should be stoked

That structure and culture and all that stuff is the coaches’ responsibility. That’s why we harp on coaches so much.

At the end of the day, it’s the HC’s program. He sets the tone. He decides which players come here and which coaches lead them.

If you’re signing the wrong guys it is on you. If you’re letting **** slide it’s on you. It’s a results business. The successful coaches aren’t always crying about culture. They’re signing high character guys and leading them.

As a great coach once said: you win with 'character' … Not 'characters'

Yeah, I have lots to say about the kids but in the end this is it. Ultimately, coaches make salaries most of us only dream about. They have control over who we recruit, how players develop, and who gets to play. Anything failure is ultimately on them.

**** internet must only exist in Miami...

Change the HC with a real one and watch this “culture” problem disappear. Be better parents and you’ll see how different “Millenials” can be.

Ed will be a big help in mentoring kids on how to be a pro per say. As well as being a great college football player you need to be, the study habits, leadership and everything else that comes with it
If this alone is all ER20 brings to the table then it's a home run hire. I think ER20 will be the person who changes the culture here to be honest.

So you're basically saying this just because they get paid a lot? What a dumb argument. Failure is on the individual and nothing more. You're part of the problem Ed is referring too. Always placing blame elsewhere instead of looking in the mirror

I'm sure one of the guys he is talking about is Pickney...Dude was living (clubbing) like he was already in the league, similar to AQM, LoL.
Which is likely part of why he didn't end up having the career here that many thought he would after his first season. Seems the case with tons of our guys. Responsibility flows to the top? Absolutely. But I put a substantial amount of blame squarely on the shoulders of the players as well.

You can see it with these kids more and more everyday. The signing productions, the typed-out notes requesting no interviews, the clowning of other schools, and just the shear drama of their recruitment. It's apparent that they (and their families) view their multiple offers and eventual signing Letters of Intent as the endgame; that they've made it and are now entitled to all the riches/fame that come with it. When in reality, they're only just beginning their journey and have no idea what hard work is yet to come and what it will take to actually EARN the riches/fame that MAY be bestowed upon them at some point. Clearly the ignorant handlers and family members exacerbate the situation even more.

These kids need to have the mindset that signing on with a school is only one brick that they've laid in their foundation to which they will have to carry many more to add to it to and hopefully, one day, be able to build an actual house upon that foundation. These kids all have shaky foundations on which only a house of cards can be built and a house of cards can't withstand a hurricane or even a coastal breeze...…..their foundations are improperly built and simply not strong enough.

The kids have to want it and it's obvious that many simply don't.

Why doesn’t Clemson and Baga and Ohio Taint and the other perennial top teams have all these problems infecting their roster every year?

Stop being such a dopey stooge of a mark. If you’re signing the wrong guys it’s on you. If you’re signing the right guys and not leading them strongly it’s also on you. That’s why you’re making $4M per. It’s not a sit back and hope for the best gig at $4M per; it’s a results game.

You’re that dude Chise but do you really think that living in Tuscaloosa or Columbus is the same as putting an 18 year old kid in Miami?

I doubt all of these kids were clubbing and doing it big in HS but they get down to Miami and see the glamour and want to enjoy it.

I agree the coaches need to recruit players who prioritize winning, commitment and accountability while also being great players but if it was so easy, everyone would be doing it.

There’s a reason that you only listed 3 teams out of 130 ish. We’ve got a find way to get back there but I disagree that the culture issues are 100% on the coaches and if we had different coaches, these players would be living like saints. I just don’t think it’s the simple.

Well said, Mr. Reed. The GOAT is riding into town to save us!
Mad Stork is my GOAT but Ed Reed the one and only possible replacement. If he saves is now and cleans this crap up, the Ted will need to lay the golden fiddle on Ed's feet. The more I think about Ed, the more I think he is perfect for this job. I can see him on the job at 4am calling Blake and asking where the **** the coaches are then pounding of players doors asking if they are watching film or jerking off. I just don't think he is going to "advise". Blake and Manny are wrong if they think Zo was a bigger threat to them.

This the same dude that wanted coker to be head coach?
I wish just ONE former player that walked into the AD's office and demanded Coker to be hired would man up and say they made a huge mistake. Just one.

WAY too simplistic thinking bro...

These kids COME to the university with attitudes/characteristics #1 built by their parent's first of all and by the crew they hang with....

#2 when they arrive to the school, the coaches then have a shot at training them on the physical and MENTAL parts of the game....ie discipline, curfew, etc...

If the kids are corrupted prior to arriving, it's likely they stay that way unless they have some progress in maturity and recognize the opportunity to really up their game.

Putting it ALL on the college coach to transform their mental state is asking way too much...

Kids need to be willing to learn and be disciplined and desire to be the best FIRST before a coach can help them get there.

The 2001 team wanted Coker to be the coach because they handled themselves so well, they just needed someone to not **** it up. Those guys didn’t need baby sitters. But the culture of player accountability left the program after those guys graduated and grandpa clappy couldn’t hold the reins on the next generation of players. It’s up to a staff to create a culture of accountability but it’s up to the players to maintain it. Coaches are limited in the amount of time they can be around the players. They can’t hold their hands 24 hours a day.

I have one answer for you: Fear

That's what keeps them in line.

Fear of losing their playing time to a kid that wants it more....
Fear of losing their scholarship to a better recruit ….
Fear of the wrath of their teammates ....
Fear of the discipline from disappointing you coaches ...
Fear of losing opportunity ….

How different it would be if that fear permeated the locker room as it did back in the days when the program was elite.

There was Michael Irvin jumping out of bed at 5:30 a.m. to head down to Greentree to run routes because "I was afraid Brett Perriman was going to take my job"

There was Russell Maryland sleeping in front of the fridge to keep Corte Kennedy from eating in the middle of the night because " coach told me it was my job to help him get in shape and he was looking at me and me only"

There was Jimmy Johnson in front of the team and saying, "we have some guys not pulling their weight right now, and I'm going to need your scholarships for new guys next February"

There was Joaquin Gonzalez, Bryant McKinnie, and Jeremy Shockey putting the fear of god in into Vernon Carey threatening to beat the crap out of him because "the motherfu*ker was wasting his talent being a lazy, crying bi*ch"

Yes, I agree with you 'Chise. It's up to the coaches, and it's on them to get the right guys who want to be great. But why the 'Canes of old didn't have the problems we do now? It's because our current coaches haven't created the horizontal and vertical fear that makes the kids scared as **** NOT to be as great as they can be.

make sense?

all I know is Worsham and Restrepo look like divas. Yes, they work out at the IPF after hours, but it’s more of the “hey, look at me” videos.

gotta call it out. Moss didn’t do it. Johnson didn’t do it. Wayne didn’t do it.

these guys are not cut from the same cloth. Hopefully 20ER can whip them into being testosterone pumping Tyrannosaurus rex’s god dangit!
Kimmy Granger, I'll give you a little clue why Moss and Wayne weren’t posting on social media while here. And both of those guys had run ins with issues while here.

this.

nothing worse than praise for premature greatness

Don't know, but if that is someone he was referring to, and that is a defensive leader, and the defense was not nearly as big of a problem as the QB room and offense, then yea, this team needs a massive kick in the *** and reset.
