From A Recruits Perspectve

Miami is a pro sports type of town. I can see Shaq Daddy's point but one also has to realize that we have extremely high standards (ones that hopefully his son will help us live up to up again) and you won't find SEC type delusion around here. There are plentyyyyyyy of drawbacks to these schools where the fans are cult-like sunshine and roses types. You're seeing our worst side right now and unfortunately that might scare some kids off but at least we're open about it. Frankly, I'd be more concerned as a parent if you saw more people accepting the status quo. At least now you know that mediocrity won't be tolerated--at least by us.

I still vehemently disagree with our fans behavior, but I do see your point. Still, death threats, contacting recruits, banners, etc. are NOT the way to conduct yourself.

It is true that 6-7 record negatively affects recruits but many who love the university and believe in themselves still want to come to "right the ship" and be the ones who bring the glory back. Bad record is not a deterrent for them. So here lies the problem of negativity.

Meanwhile miami will be a top 3 school in players drafted. Top education. Money over everything

I've never tweeted a thing at a recruit. I come on here to vent my frustrations with others who feel the same.

I've supported this program for years and the current staff as well. I've done my part as a fan. What have they produced? Nothing. Not one positive thing has come from the "Golden Era".

Yet they aren't held accountable and I am? Is this serious?

Fine.

Let me ask you a question, if you don't mind, well, maybe a couple.

How do kids look at 6-7 record?

How do kids look at a university after the parent of one of the best players calls out the coaches?

How do kids look at the university when they make no effort to hold the head coach accountable?

I know how they see it when they look at this website, it's a mess!
But the school is forcing the fanbases hand to call for action!
We are a very passionate fan base, who hold our team to the standards set by some of the NFLs best players EVER!
That's right! They played for TheU!
They have been silenced by this staff and Admin. Or they would be just as vocal as we are!

Good luck to you and your son!

I'm not just jumping on board here... I went to my first UM game back in 79 or 80 when Kenny McMillian was the Quarterback... with a guy name Jim Kelly as the number 2... Eddie Brown is one of my all time favorite Canes... I dropped Alonzo Highsmiths girl friend off at the dorm to come see him... Darrell Fullington and I grew up playing basketball at the same playground and against each other in high school... So I was a fan long before the glory years and have held on through the tough times... Shaq likes Miami because of my passion for Miami... getting off the soap box...Here are my answers to your questions:

How do kids look at 6-7 record? They hate it... Most kids are faddish they want to go to who is winning. Then there are others who want to go to a school and make it a winning program...but to your point 6-7 is real bad on recruiting...

How do kids look at a university after the parent of one of the best players calls out the coaches? This was really bad... I even gasp for a second...and then thought am I being selfish with my love for the Hurricanes... and sending my child to a **** sandwich. What was said was bad, but who said it made it was monumentally devastating..

How do kids look at the university when they make no effort to hold the head coach accountable? This notion is over the kids heads most aren't really concern with who's coaching the team... They are shallow ... their view is... if a team is winning they have a good coach... if they are losing then the coach sucks.

All these things are bad... I agree... I'm not just some naïve parent pointing a finger... I see there are issues, some I will keep to myself for obvious reasons... but my point is yes these things are bad... but if your efforts are not helping... then they are further hurting the situation.. Most games on Saturdays are won on NSD... Good Coach or Bad Coach... Recruiting is like a pendulum it can feel like a long time before the arm comes back.

How would a recruit feel about the University of Miami after spending 1 hour on this site?

The mods let people talk **** about the program. So they can get the hits. It's disgraceful that a few guys on here speak for everyone. They should have one thread to voice they're displeasure. But they hijack every post that's started. I'm not a fan of what happened last year or the way the have failed to evaluate talent down here. But I don't feel the need to say it over and over in every thread.

How would a recruit feel about the University of Miami after spending 1 hour on this site?

probably the same way they would feel after watching Miami lose 4 in a row to end the year in embarrassing fashion?

Some fans just don't get it.

If you want to talk crap about Golden and the other coaches during the season when we play like crap, go ahead. I hate the scheme, hate the lack of adjustments, hate the black jersey crap, etc.....but i love my Canes. So i may say things during the season too WHILE still supporting the players. After the season is over and you kept it going because you wanted Golden fired...ok, completely justified. I agree, the administration should have made a move.....but they didn't. At that point, you should have shut up if you didn't want to cause more damage. The father of a high level recruit just CONFIRMED what many of us have said, that eventhough you don't think it matters what you post on here, it DOES have an impact. If that's what you want.....go root for someone else. Once we realized Golden was on for one more year, we should have just turned the cheek, talked recruiting, and looked at the positive of what we had coming in. Period. You think Shaq wants to hear why the coach he committed to is trash? You think guys want to be surrounded by constant negativity?? NO! That **** is draining. You compare this board to BAMA's when they lose.....well how often do they lose? If BAMA was a 6-7, 7-6, or 8-6 team and had that negativity all the time, i guarantee you some of those kids wouldn't go there and deal with it. But you can get away with it when you win. There's a limit to everything. When you take it too far, you turn things into the dumpster fire we are experiencing right now.

The 2016 class is loaded right now.....and those kids committed to Golden and the other coaches you continue to trash. If you want them to keep looking elsewhere, keep telling them why they should. And when they do, don't ***** about it again next year. If we struggle again, i have no doubts a change will be made. But let's just shut up for a few months and let things play out. Nothing is changing between now and next December except the perception of these young kids who we want to hold on to.

How would a recruit feel about the University of Miami after spending 1 hour on this site?

He'd feel really sorry for the real fans who have had to endure

-3 straight hirings of 3 ****** coaching staffs
-3 straight EXTENSIONS of the 3 ****** coaching staffs
-3 straight instances of an incompetent administration taking TOO LONG to fire the 3 ****** coaching staffs

So yeah...they'd come to the conclusion that this school is run by incompetent morons who don't care about football.

I'd hope after spending 1 hour on this site a recruit would feel like we all love this team, and that Golden is a horrible coach, and that's the only reason there's so much negativity.
It's pretty simple, Golden will be fired next year when we get a new President. So for these 2016 recruits, they really need to know that they are committed to being a Hurricane, and not playing for Golden. And ultimately if they would come here under Golden, they should only get happier as soon as he is fired. If they want to be a Hurricane right now, I don't see why on earth they wouldn't want to be if we got a real coaching staff.

You lose 7 games and make zero changes, and this is the result.

End of story. The blowback and negativity is a direct result of poor performance and a refusal by those in charge to acknowledge it is unacceptable.

Fans are a passionate group. Don't go 6-7. Don't retain the whole staff. This wouldn't happen.

It's grimey and low to blame fans for this situation.

College football being what it is, when a kid commits to a school, it should be 90% about the school itself and 10% about the coaching staff and depth and such.

Unfortunately, often it seems to work the opposite.

How would a recruit feel about the University of Miami after spending 1 hour on this site?

But they shouldn't be on this site... Everyone knows what message boards are all about... It's therapy for us fans especially in moments like this... If this site is going to have any weight on a recruits recruitment process than i don't know what to say... They need to worry about themselves and there teammates and future teammates... Not about us crazy fans!!!
I agree they should not be here, that is why I don't allow Shaq to come on....BUT these kids Google there names out of curiosity and find their names attached to a link back here and then they are going to check out what's going on inside... So even though they shouldn't they are... I know of a recruit that just received his first offer from Maryland... I dare not say his name... and I mention to him ...that I mention to the coaches at Miami and his reply was Miami fans even say don't come to Miami he even went on to say the coaches sucks none of the players like the coaches.... so I stopped him and said that's BS where did he get that information from... I had and idea... but then he said CaneInsight... I was like ****... and told him its not true and I will take you to Miami's spring game so you can see for your self... Point is our fan sight is counter productive to what most of us here want... To Win.

So I am really curious since your son is looking at Miami. How does having a losing season, not winning bowl games, and then the admin not changing coaches have him look at the college? I am really curious if it has as much affect as we think or if these kids are more pushed by friends and actual recruiters and other things instead of the things fans see as important.

Went to Miami and FSU game at a big gathering at the Ale House here in Orange Park... was sick... neither one of us spoke one word after the loss...went straight to bed... Shaq's school went 12-1 last year... that 1 was a dagger in the hard... Shaq went 14-2 in middle school he went to the SuperBowl in Orlando in Pop-Warner... after two undefeated season... We like winning.. Its not everything its the only thing... If you are not successful then something got to change in everything we do... Now 2 questions back to you...

1. Who here will have direct influence over the staff and administration that can demand a change?

2. Who here had direct influence over a **** good corner that could potentially become a cane?

*As a collective voice from here... I think it can and will make a change, but I fear the damage that will be caused in doing so.

In that case view this house as being infested with asbestos

It needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt

At the end of the day, what is being said on CanesInsight is probably going to rank pretty low on the totem pole when a recruit is making a decision.

This site is rough at the moment, but I vehemently disagree with any apologists who feel that if everyone here were waving their pom poms, it would help recruiting. Positive or negative, what's being said here probably isn't all that relevant in the grand scheme of things.

There are a few things that are very relevant: We just went 6-7 in Year 4 and retained the entire staff. Duke Johnson's mother claimed the majority of kids would transfer if they didn't have to sit out a year. Seniors who just left the team have voiced doubt in the staff. We've also had staff writers here claim Golden and many of his assistants are reviled in the south Florida community.

I'm not a recruit, but I would imagine all of these factors would influence my decision more than what a bunch of dudes behind computer screens are saying.

I don't blame any fan for voicing their concern and displeasure with the state of the program. Al Golden made the outlandish claim those doing so needed to quit their whining because we made progress. That's unacceptable and he deserves the criticism.

I like that quote. She was successful, but her lack of forethought has left her with nothing.

Whining and bashing has accomplished NOTHING except turn recruits away.

This is hilarious, too.

We have to act like we're in North Korea. "Everything is fine. We love Al Golden. Come to Miami. Play for supreme leader. Much values. Such wins. Wow."

Kids are leaving to play for successful coaches at winning programs. Their fans are happy because they have a winning program and an administration that cares about winning. Unhappy fans are a byproduct of the disease.

Trying to reduce our recruiting failures to something as simple as unrest among the fans is some real ***** shlt.

PSU... Its not so much that they are committed to the Coaches... They like Miami and the coaches are their only connection to the U. So when you discredit their only connection to the program you in turn discredit the program. You are right in the sense for us Al Golden is the keeper of the gate... If we want in we have to deal with him. And if I wasn't comfortable dealing with him or felt like some of the other poster here... We would not be dealing with the University of Miami at all... We would be seeking else where.

If we don't do this, then the school won't think we are serious. And if they don't think we are serious about having a true commitment to excellence, then they wont make any changes. The school is happy with going 6-7, because they simply don't give a ****. If they didn't make any changes this year (not 1 coach being fired) then why should we expect them to if we win 7 or 8 games? The point is, obviously we are making it worse right now, but that doesn't mean we are making it worse long term.
If there is anything we've learned the past few years, it's that Golden is not the right guy for the job. And It really ******* sucks that he is probably going to find a way to destroy what should be an elite 2016 class too as his final farewell.
