Yeah, I was on the Rice campus one time around 1980. IIRC, it had sort of a modern Spanish/Southwestern architectural feel. Very nice, as you say.

Super Bowl VIII (a Dolphins win) was held at Rice Stadium, a big venue back in the day at 68,000. U of Houston played games there for many years too.

If the SWC was still a thing, Rice would be piddling around like Dook or Vandy: winning 2-4 games most years (unless they hit the jackpot with a coach or QB) and playing home games with more fans in the stands for the visiting team
