Frenk Message On Athletics 9/30

For anyone wondering how Frenk SHOULD have responded:

"The University of Miami is committed to excellence. We are unwavering in our dedication to building champions both on and off the field. Recent commentary in the sports media have questioned this commitment, specifically as it relates to our beloved football program - a program that has won five national championships and multiple conference championships.

I want to assure students, staff, fans, alumni, and our entire university community that our commitment to winning is unfaltering. While recent on-field results have not met our standards, we wish to state transparently and clearly that we are committed to doing what is takes to bring another championship home to Miami.

To that end... (and then list out some specific steps)."

None of these bs covid excuses. Just take responsibility, acknowledge the problem, and state clearly what you're going to do to fix it.

What is he implying there? Basically that we fans/donors/alumni are emotional and short-sighted, while he, Julio Frenk, is the voice of reason who understands the bigger picture. What a load of garbage. The Athletics Department has been a disaster for 20+ years. The "last game" (a conference loss) and the "last play" (a missed field goal) are just a symptom of a bigger disease that many of us have been calling out for a long time.

There is no short-sightedness on our part. We're suggesting structural improvements to the athletic department which have been needed for ages.

frenk is an arrogant douchebag, so no surprise there. he's also an excuse machine.
 
Translation: "I'm adding TWO MORE PEOPLE (Fernandez & Echevarria) for Blake James to converse with who can then relay athletic issues to me. Since I don't know a 1st down from a Time Out, I thought this would be more efficient".

Frenk would have been better off not saying anything. Probably one of the aforementioned TWO PEOPLE wrote it for him. If this is what Blake James has to contend with I feel sorry for him.

Why would I do that when I'm named after one of the greatest musical acts of the 90's?

I'm demonstrably not the same person as AvacadoToast. You have ways of checking that. It's up to you whether to apply the rules fairly to all members.

The fact that he had to address it, means it isn’t being addressed fast enough or correctly.

Last time we all got a letter like that was Shalala apologizing in advance for allowing Willie Williams in.

I didn’t think the admin would say anything till we were blown out by another acc team not named Clemson line unc or nc st this season. Props to ESPN, in particular herbstreit. Herbstreit has put the focus on the bot, admin, ad and not just manny. Whomever becomes AD can thank herbstreit for finally getting miami to put Athletics as a priority. The bad press is going to continue hurt application numbers to the university and hopefully people stop donating anything to miami till the school invests in hiring a elite coach with money to compete for top assistants with any team in the country.

Well now how can I argue with that airtight logic? A lesser mind might assume “WrongSaidFred” was a play on words, an attempt to mock with a nickname, in the style of Franchise but less artfully and intelligently done.

But of course we know that is not the case.

I argue with my friends as well. Don't worry... it's normal.

Neither premise was untrue, but the conclusion drawn does not follow from those premises.
 
This is no different than the hiring of ER…. an attempt to placate the unclean masses.
 
Just a bunch of meaningless words in an email meant to give people some glimmer of hope and deflect the negative press. Frenk can take a hike with Blake, and Manny.
