This can’t be a surprise to anyone with an IQ over 75. Right up there with Tripp.

So what is the story there? Tripp is a good size IOL at 6'3 300, i remember Mariobal identified him early He moves from Baltimore to Bradenton and immediately wins a starting spot on their D1 caliber Oline. Was a high 3/4* coming out of IMG, expected to play g/c here. Takes a redshirt last year, got some mop up duty early in the season against the scrub teams with the other bench players, Portals Out.

He's clearly talented & on a good trajectory, is he homesick What gives? Could he be heading to FiU with Pata, or just another kid who doesn't want to work & develop?

Some of you are hilarious bashing Mario & Mirabal's management of the OL. Were you watching about 5 years ago when the OL was historically bad? The line has steadily improved and was consistently reliable last season.

Certainly, like most schools, we have a self-imposed budget/cap for the roster. CC's getting paid, of that you can be assured. The annual mercenary center takes a chunk too I'd imagine. Cooper and someone with Bell's measurables do well too, I'd think. You can't recruit 5 stars who are handsomely paid to sit on the bench for 3 years. That's the conundrum with Samson. The staph can be bashed for many things, but not for signing developmental OL on the cheap while fielding a very good OL.

Everyone is an expert here on olineman and QBs

There are only five starting spots. Typically we bring in 4-5 new OL prospects each year. You either improve and stay in line to start or get leap frogged. I can only guess as to why. 20
Years ago they would’ve been buried on the depth chart as virtual unknowns, earning their degree and moving on. Now they transfer out, become a virtual unknown elsewhere, maybe earn a degree and move on.

IIRC Tripp started his first game for IMG then the next game he was a healthy scratch and don’t believe he started for them again all season. I remember finding it odd because I thought he held up well that first game and was surprised to not see him out there that second game.

He is what he is but if there is a position you take a chance on, ESPECIALLY with scholarship roster limits now at 105, it’s offensive linemen, especially on a team with mirabel as arguably your best position coach and with Mario as your oc It won’t always work.

Neither does 5 star always work- see pancake

What about academic requirements? Same as they ever were or ... no one cares these days? Who's monitoring that (if anyone)?

David Pollack was saying how he’s talked to coaches from across the sport that say kids are just paying off people to write their papers for them

In the last several years, I haven't heard of one athlete receiving NIL money who has been declared academically ineligible.

Is there really a connection anymore -- other than the money -- between player and school? Is going to class/making grades now optional, or mandatory as it was?

ETSU announced a week or so ago a new General Manager for football and basketball with his main task to manage NIL.
Yep.

My buddy is talking to him about a deal for one of the QB’s, probably McNamara because he has a bigger following, for an NIL deal for a Cannabis/CBD company. Gonna use him to leverage the fight against the state ban going into an effect on THC-A. The company hired Travis Dye’s dad recently and he and I were talking about his time playing under Mario. Pretty cool dude.

Deal should come together soon
