Frank Ponce

Typical UM bull**** coaching staff hire, if hired, bunch of tight wads, don't want to spend money for a proven winner. They better get it right with this staff, especially the OC. The pressure on Manny will be greater than Mark, this fan base wants to win now! Sick and tired of changing the channel in the 3rd quarter of a Canes game because we look like the walking dead. Would rather be watching the Canes win, instead of Naked and Afraid.

What recent staff hires were made because UM wanted to save money?

With the obvious caveat that he was working at FIU and Appalachian State, here is Ponce's track record as a recruiter from 2007-2018. You're not going to land big fish at those schools, but there's nothing impressive on his recruiting resume from an evaluation standpoint.

Never called plays, comes from a run-heavy offense, and has zero juice as a recruiter/evaluator. Ponce joining the staff is one thing, but the thought of handing the keys of the offense over to this guy has unmitigated disaster written all over it.

Thank you. Ponce would be a terrible hire. There are plenty of qualified coaches around the country who didn't grow up in Dade County.

Some of you are so worried about him being OC that you're willing to compromise on him being QB coach. Why? Do you people not remember the last 3 years we suffered through without a good QB coach? Being good enough to be named QB coach at temple does NOT mean he's good enough to be QB coach at Miami. I'm sorry but Manny does not owe him **** just because he was almost on Manny's staff at ****** temple. Remember what happened the last time a coach brought his Temple level staff to Miami?

I honestly can't believe ANY of you are ok with this. This guy has no track record for developing QBs. All the potential hires & names out there & some of you are ok with this?

What's the one position & coach from Richt's staff that needed to be upgraded the most? QB & QB coach. You people think THIS is the guy who can do it? Dont even give me the "how do I know he can't" bull****. Not when there's not a single shred of evidence proving he can.

If we settle for Temple level coaches, then that's what we are. Manny is the coach at MIAMI. Hire MIAMI level coaches.

What scares me is I don't see why a QB coach name would be floating around before an OC is named. Ponce would be an embarrassing hire as OC.

We'll see if Manny is really as smart as people say he is.

First year CO-dc never called plays .
First year HC.
First year OC never called plays.

What could go wrong!!!

When you look at it like that...they definitely need to hire an experienced OC...but not one that overshadows the HC. This is the HC's show, he should be given proper respect. GO CANES
