I've said and written this story a bunch of times over the years since, but this is as good a thread as any to repeat because I disagree with the article on the "legend" part:
When I was 16, just before my senior year of HS, I got into a little trouble and ended up doing one of those diversion programs with a stupid amount of community hours. I ended up at one of the Boys and Girls clubs to basically cut trees and pick up garbage. One day, I had to leave early to get to football practice and asked my supervisor. Long story shortened, I was assigned to some dude who'd thereafter give me a hard time that his nephew would break my ankles and embarrass me.
"He's going to be the best RB Dade's ever seen." I told him he was nuts for saying that and ripped off different names from the 90s. "You'll see," he said. A couple years later, as a student at UM, I'm up against one of the Greentree fences watching practice and the same dude walks by, recognizes me, and says "boy, I told ya...and just wait till what's next." Frank had already flashed magic during his senior HS season and was about to average 9+ yards/carry as a True Frosh.
Crazy, crazy natural RB. Can't wait to see him in the HoF.
