He was announced the starter yesterday for the Bills for week 1. This got me thinking... he is extremely underrated for what he has done on his career.

Every year from 2006-2017, he had 1,100+ yards from scrimmage
He's been in the league for 14 years, in 9 of them he has 1,000+ yards rushing
According to Pro-Football Reference, he has started every game he's played in since 2006
First player in NFL history with 12 consecutive 1,200-yards from scrimmage seasons (also has the most all time at 12)
Most consecutive seasons with at least 500 yards rushing – 14
Most consecutive seasons with at least 600 yards rushing – 14
Most consecutive seasons with at least 700 yards rushing – 13, tied with Emmitt Smith (Can pass him this year)
Fourth most rushing yards in NFL history (needs 522 yards to pass Barry Sanders for third all time)

Some of his stats are insane, especially considering the lack of coverage he gets for being one of the all-time leading rushers.

Is he really that underrated?

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying anything bad about him. I think he's an absolute stud, especially with what he's been through with his health, but is it just Canes fans who think he's underrated? I always see things from media, and even fantasy "experts" about how big of a freak he is that he's still going (starting), etc. He's only, what, a few hundred yards from Barry's record? He's going to be in the Hall too.

Frank is the example South Florida kids should follow. Came to a Canes team with an absolutely loaded backfield to compete and get better. Faced an unusual amount of adversity, but stayed strong and it made him better. Got to the league and took what he worked so hard for. This is what being a Cane meant and did for so many careers. Frank is going to HOF despite so many obstacles. He is taking care of his family for generations to come and being a Cane is partially responsibly for that. Frank is the Man.

Go Canes!

NFL rb's in general are not as valued as they were 20 years ago so this is probably why he is underrated. He doesn't get the PR that backs in the 80s, 90s and early 2000's got

That's fair. I guess I've just never paid attention to the lack of attention he gets, or doesn't get. I've seen plenty of media talk very highly of him.

I really don't see much attention on him other than "oh, he's still going strong", as an example. Not a lot of people talk about him being a sure fire HOF'er, when he really should be. Yes, his longevity helps compared to others, but his stats are up there with the best of the best

If Jerome Bettis gets in, Gore definitely gets in.

There is a case to be made that Frank Gore is the greatest person of all time.

Absolutely he's underrated.

A lot of it is because he 'plods' along at 4.something yards per carry and just moves the chains. He's not an explosive, SportsCentre type back.

His longevity and productivity is ridiculous - he's a first ballot Hall of Famer, but he's not spoken about as one.

In the last year or two you've heard that narrative, but prior to that hardly anyone ever talked about Gore. Definitely not in terms of the league's best backs. Yet look at that production, he was doing it the whole **** time at that level.
