Fran Brown for DC?

No one can defend in that conference because offenses so good. BAMA gives up 35 a game in Big 12.

Maybe Bama's defense this year would give up 35 to some teams in the Big 12 but make no mistake about it that some of their defenses in the past would pummel Big 12 offenses. If you think a Saban led defense is going to give up an average of 35 points a game in any conference, you're insane. They went up against easily the best offense in the Big 12 and it's a one game sample size.

Manny hired him to be his DC at Temple.

Lol.
Co-dc. Which means another guy was going to be hired and thats who was going to actually run the defense.

PHILADELPHIA- Temple head coach Manny Diaz announced an addition to his football staff today. Fran Brown has been named Assistant Head Coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator and is the first coach that has been hired to Diaz' new staff.

I don’t understand why anyone thinks we are hiring a DC. We already have 2 plus Manny. In his interview today Manny said he will not be calling defensive plays because has guys on his staff he can trust to call plays on defense.

To be fair We don’t have anything officially until Manny announces it.

I agree, I think the defensive staff is in place

I can see Manny keeping the status quo on the defensive side, if for no other purpose, to keep continuity and then be able to focus on hiring an OC and improving the offense.

First, because it means Diaz isn’t going the easy and frankly expected route of just promoting Banda/Patke.

Second, the Big 12 is notorious for awful defenses. It’s hard to read into how much of Baylor’s defensive issues were his responsibility.

And lastly, as you said, he’s an elite recruiter, which we badly need.
@CFLCane you see. The man does talk football. Crying girls club egg faced once again.

You really think he is going to **** over his boy Banda? No chance.

I’m not saying I buy this rumor but why would he have to ***** over Banda? Most likely scenario would be Banda remaining as co-DC and calling the defensive plays, Brown getting the other co-DC title and focusing heavily on recruiting, and Patke coaching LBs/Strikers. Patke would be the one losing the co-DC title.

I don't know a thing about Fran and never claimed to. It was inferred in the OP he was a "beast recruiter" and that's the VERY LAST thing I'd be looking at with regards to this OC hire.

Educate me on this guy from an X's and O's perspective.

Beast recruiter is a stretch.

After the 2014 recruiting season, in which he signed a number of players including future pro Sean Chandler, Brown was named a top recruiter in the American Athletic Conference by Rivals.com

He's DB coach with only 7 years in coaching.

Fair enough, but I don’t see it happening. I think the defensive staff is largely in place. Manny already said his focus will be on the OC hire.

Manny is smart enough to know that Banda and Patke aren’t ready to be a DC at a school of Miami’s caliber

Hence why he’s exploring other options
