No he was just the DBs coach from my understanding. He has a reputation for being a very good recruiter but his coaching has not matched his recruiting abilities. Their pass defense was not good this year. They do play in an offensively geared conference obviously but from an Xs and Os standpoint, this is risky.

He was the Assistant Head Coach and DB coach at Baylor. Not the Co-DC. That would've been his new role at Temple.

Why? He has a reputation as a good recruiter but Baylor's defense statistically was awful. Their pass defense is below average in a lot of statistical categories.

First, because it means Diaz isn’t going the easy and frankly expected route of just promoting Banda/Patke.

Second, the Big 12 is notorious for awful defenses. It’s hard to read into how much of Baylor’s defensive issues were his responsibility.

And lastly, as you said, he’s an elite recruiter, which we badly need.

YES!! That would be an ACE hire. Only thing is would be want to be PART of a show vs RUNNING his own show. He's from the Tri-State area so that may have greater pull. If Manny can pull this hire off, I'd be very confident in The U going forward.
