Fowler

Pretty sure EVERYTHING you just said is an absolute opinion. But carry on.

Fowler is one of the best college football professionals of all-time.

The people critiquing him are schleps who punch a time clock every day.

ESPN is loving the turnover chain and the chance that Miami is "back" yet all we hear is whining about their supposed hatred of the Canes.

At least they are punching time clocks; is Fowler looking at Unemployment pretty soon? Nobody is safe at "the Worldwide Leader," not even John Skipper. Therein lies the rub:

Sure the 'Canes are fun and putting up a turnover chain graphic adds to it. The ratings may be great, but personalities and job security come into play. ESPN Pres Skipper is hanging by a thread and his fingernails because they are losing money by the truckload. Clemson won last year and if Miami won the NC this year, all the long knives in Burbank who have been looking for a final nail in his coffin will have found it: He paid too much for the $EC broadcast rights.

Expect Skipper's minions (they like having a job, so they will do his bidding) to grow the two SEC CFP model narrative they have already planted.

So maybe I will take back Fowler losing his job; all he has to do is agree with his in the SEC tank replacement, Reece Davis to keep in the $$$ (for now).

Pronunciation guide from this season

I don't know if I'd rather punch Fowler or Reece Davis in the face.. decisions decisons.. Both absolutely hate The U. Herbstreit has always been fair. Until recently, we deserve whatever criticism we got.

After having the ESPN D- team last week it was nice to have a group that wasnt stepping on themselves hoping the Canes chocked it away

They both were off their game last night. Herbs kept on saying that VA Tech was going to get the ball in the second half and is living in a dream world where the Irish are undefeated.

Fowler kept on talking about Convict crap and brought up an awkward moment talking about why he thought Deejay's name was spelled in such a different way.

Both can just fly on the first plane with a one way ticket to Abu Dhabi and never come back for all I care.

they become much less dynamic when they don't have the ESPN agenda bullet points to reference ie. Baker Mayfield, OSU best DL ever, Saquan Barely, Bama dyck riding

Straight facts.

My boy in Houston was watching UM for the first time this season and he was shocked at the playmakers we had. Like he had no clue. He's asking me who is this McIntosh guy? Where is Johnson from? Why have I never heard of Mike or Joe Jackson? Redwine? Homer? Herndon? Berrios?

The nation got their first glimpse of us last night, as did Folwer and Herbie, and I think they were caught off guard by what we've been cooking with down here. It's crazy bc we have one of the best TE's. DE's, DT's. Safeties, and CB's in the nation, and they get no kind of burn outside of Florida.

That's basically my point. For a leading duo, their depth is really surprising. I don't know if ESPN skimps on the researchers, but much of the insight provided is how we'd explain the games to our grandmothers. I don't really care if they support us or not, so long as they're not trying to undermine us. I've heard other broadcast teams at least give football or player insight. Happy as heck to avoid listening to them.

Fans love to act like they know everything. So when you get a color guy actually breaking down x and os they feel insecure because they have no idea what they’re watching. I’ve heard people bash Collinsworth, Danielson and Romo for simply breaking down what we’re seeing.

The worst in sports is Mack Brown. He tells you water is wet all game. I’m not sure if he takes a minimal approach to commentating but it makes you scratch your head and wonder if he really knows what the **** is going on.
Agreed. I get not everyone is into the play breakdowns. But, maybe the staffers can give these guys some player insights. I get this isn't science; just my personal opinion. I despise listening to a game where people are speaking for the sake of speaking. Love listening/watching games where people add something to what's plainly on the screen.

Again, I don't care about Fowler and Herbstreit in terms of what they think about us (sans the low blows). I'm commenting about their general product. Even when I watch them give other teams' games, I feel the same way.

So one of the best in the business got it right and some dope on a Canes message board got it wrong?

What a shock.

What are you Fowlers love child bro? Dude is fuggin tool and you standing up for him is comical. You must have liked the way he threw the Catholic vs Convict shirt at Herbie and you could tell Herbie was uncomfortable and embarrassed and wanted none of it.

His name is pronounced Ro Zeer not Ro sheer

Exactly bro..this is what I am talking about

Love the Mack Brown reference, same way he coached, in the dark. I really like Collinsworth, I didn't realize in his he could outrun anybody in Florida, dude was fast.

Anybody can perceive what they want. But I would feel funny to have these media people fawning over Miami. Eventually they will but what does that mean? It means nothing. When I care is when they talk about Miami being in bad areas or NCAA sanctions l, crap like that. I don't care if they say we are not good. It's good for the players.

All in all I don't think they were overly biased. I don't know, I'm just not that sensitive to all that. They're gonna pick ND because they been smashing people, it's on tape to see that's what they have been doing, why would I be mad about that. I know those teams are not Miami and ND has to come down here to prove that.

The weekly I hate the announcers. they hate Miami thread. Then Joe Z and Don Bailey get ripped for being homers. Too funny how paranoid some of our fans are.

Very subtle moment from the broadcast last night that shows why I fux with Herbie --

Fowler is holding up his orignal Catholics vs. Convicts T-Shirts and building up that BS narrative. The entire time he's talking Herbie looked somewhat uncomfortable with everything Fowler's spewing. He tosses the shirt to Herbie, who then promptly tosses it toward the ground and instead of continuing w the Catholics vs. Convicts talk, talks about how Miami s ND back then was instant classic must see TV.

Fowler then gets in a couple more cheap shots (not as many convicts on the team as there was back then), but I really can't stand that smug basterd, and i'm usually one to give the media a break.

You shoulda watched espn this morning. Booger macfarland says “somewhere, Nevin Shapiro is happy” then goes on to bring up the convicts for Catholics crap. There’s such an obvious bias at that network

SEC homer. Don't think he's ever provided any insightful analysis since he's been on TV. It's either "I like this coach over that coach" or "I like the SEC defense to exert their dominance". He's a loser probably still hot he was surrounded by a GOAT (Sapp) at his position in Tampa who I'm sure was in his ear all the time about The U.

It’s not just him. Paul finebaum ( also SEC homer) put in his two cents and then the female host made some comment about many of our players being conceived to uncle luke’s Music. It was really odd to say the least

**** is embarrassing. Then last night Fowler makes a clever quip after a Joe Jackson play about VT having 99 problems (cuz y'know, JJ wheres #99 ). Okay, I give you an A for effort. And then he absolutely ruins it by asking Herbstreit if he liked his 2 Live Crew reference (not knowing 99 Problems is actually an Ice T, then Jay-z song). But that just gos to show what they still think of us.

I personally love it. I hope we're always considered outsiders and barbarians at the gate. We know our team and that's all that matters.

Grew up poor in Springfield, MO. Wasn't supposed to finish high school. Then my best friend's father laughed in my face when I said I wanted to go to college. The day I graduated from graduate school he's the first person I thought of. Hadn't spoken to the dude in 10 years and he had no idea he's still fueling me.

It's why I identify with this program so much. They are undersold. They are from a tiny alumni base, without the resources, following, or hype of other programs. They revel in knocking any man, woman, or child who doubts them into the ground.

Just like some 5-5 redneck fueled me for a decade, the hate coming from the media fuels our team. The large fan bases of the state schools can't stand it. They can't understand it.

When someone born with all the advantages can't beat someone born with none, it makes them mad. Just like it makes the national media and college football followers mad when Miami is good. Us against the world.

Miami has the one advantage that trumps everything else.

Talent base.

I'm sure he'll be able to find another 7-figure job very soon after any potential move.

Our clock punchers will be punching it til 65.

Yahoo Sports doesn't pay that much...Maybe a You Tube channel? That sure won't pay seven figures for second-hand sports content or punditry.

Game has changed...
