Fowler

they become much less dynamic when they don't have the ESPN agenda bullet points to reference ie. Baker Mayfield, OSU best DL ever, Saquan Barely, Bama dyck riding

Straight facts.

My boy in Houston was watching UM for the first time this season and he was shocked at the playmakers we had. Like he had no clue. He's asking me who is this McIntosh guy? Where is Johnson from? Why have I never heard of Mike or Joe Jackson? Redwine? Homer? Herndon? Berrios?

The nation got their first glimpse of us last night, as did Folwer and Herbie, and I think they were caught off guard by what we've been cooking with down here. It's crazy bc we have one of the best TE's. DE's, DT's. Safeties, and CB's in the nation, and they get no kind of burn outside of Florida.

That's basically my point. For a leading duo, their depth is really surprising. I don't know if ESPN skimps on the researchers, but much of the insight provided is how we'd explain the games to our grandmothers. I don't really care if they support us or not, so long as they're not trying to undermine us. I've heard other broadcast teams at least give football or player insight. Happy as heck to avoid listening to them.

Hurb must suffering from memory loss. Because he did the fsu game last year and saw our DL and was complementary now this year he acts like he's never seen it before. Either he has memory issues or he was downplaying it to fit his narrative.

Yep, although I enjoy Herbstreit's analysis of the game. But yeah. A perfect example is the RJ fumble scoop and return. Herbie correctly noticed how athletic the big fella was, but had he played for Bama, or OSU or the usual suspects whose balls they lick, they would've known right away he had a basketball background and is a supreme athlete in top notch condition (in addition to being one of the best DT's in the nation).

Very subtle moment from the broadcast last night that shows why I fux with Herbie --

Fowler is holding up his orignal Catholics vs. Convicts T-Shirts and building up that BS narrative. The entire time he's talking Herbie looked somewhat uncomfortable with everything Fowler's spewing. He tosses the shirt to Herbie, who then promptly tosses it toward the ground and instead of continuing w the Catholics vs. Convicts talk, talks about how Miami s ND back then was instant classic must see TV.

Fowler then gets in a couple more cheap shots (not as many convicts on the team as there was back then), but I really can't stand that smug basterd, and i'm usually one to give the media a break.

You shoulda watched espn this morning. Booger macfarland says “somewhere, Nevin Shapiro is happy” then goes on to bring up the convicts for Catholics crap. There’s such an obvious bias at that network

SEC homer. Don't think he's ever provided any insightful analysis since he's been on TV. It's either "I like this coach over that coach" or "I like the SEC defense to exert their dominance". He's a loser probably still hot he was surrounded by a GOAT (Sapp) at his position in Tampa who I'm sure was in his ear all the time about The U.

most know narratives but Herbie has a little deeper understanding.

It’s not just him. Paul finebaum ( also SEC homer) put in his two cents and then the female host made some comment about many of our players being conceived to uncle luke’s Music. It was really odd to say the least

**** is embarrassing. Then last night Fowler makes a clever quip after a Joe Jackson play about VT having 99 problems (cuz y'know, JJ wheres #99 ). Okay, I give you an A for effort. And then he absolutely ruins it by asking Herbstreit if he liked his 2 Live Crew reference (not knowing 99 Problems is actually an Ice T, then Jay-z song). But that just gos to show what they still think of us.

I personally love it. I hope we're always considered outsiders and barbarians at the gate. We know our team and that's all that matters.

I noticed that too, you could tell Herb didn't want to talk about that. Gained some respect for him, Fowler on the other hand, wth was that

I actually like Herbstreit, Fowler not so much. He doesn't need to do more than narrate the game and add in some commentary. He actually breaks down football schemes/alignments sometimes (I'm sure he'd like to do more of that, but most people aren't interested in hearing that) and always has a very good knowledge of the teams that are playing, not just canned football lines that apply to every team.

Some of you self-described "savages" are the biggest bunch of puzzies on Earth.

All you guys do is whine about ESPN even though it's obvious that they love the story of Miami's "return" to the upper echelon.

Get a grip.

What's the difference between complaining about announcers and complaining about posters?

Mine is an observation based in fact.

Theirs is a projection of their sad existence.

The only enjoyment they seem to get out of their miserable lives is whining about people who are much better at their jobs than they are (Fowler and Herbstreit) and a network that isn't doing what they allege.

Maybe Fowler reads CIS, the Joe Jackson reference to the "Steppin Out" singer of the same name, was started LAST Year by SFBayCane IIRC.

Pretty sure EVERYTHING you just said is an absolute opinion. But carry on.

Fowler is one of the best college football professionals of all-time.

The people critiquing him are schleps who punch a time clock every day.

ESPN is loving the turnover chain and the chance that Miami is "back" yet all we hear is whining about their supposed hatred of the Canes.

Fans love to act like they know everything. So when you get a color guy actually breaking down x and os they feel insecure because they have no idea what they’re watching. I’ve heard people bash Collinsworth, Danielson and Romo for simply breaking down what we’re seeing.

The worst in sports is Mack Brown. He tells you water is wet all game. I’m not sure if he takes a minimal approach to commentating but it makes you scratch your head and wonder if he really knows what the **** is going on.

Exactly.

End thread.
