Foundations NIL Donations by the Public?

I think you will see additions like seat licensing and the such added to season tickets and that money will be added to the till…imagine a school like Michigan or OSU or any school that has 100,000+ every week adding a couple grand to their season tickets to guarantee where you sit.The money it would add would be astronomical.Seat Licensing is already done at many schools but I’ll bet the schools that are already doing it will redirect that money to a fund to help pay players...
Maybe, but giving it to players would require changes to the ncaa rules that most schools (even the leading ones) likely don't want. Right now the schools can not give any money to
Playes/recruits and most actually like that as it means they can keep any revenue they get for coaches, facilities, admin, other sports, etc.

As much as many schools don't like NIL, they would like it even less if THEY need to start sharing THEIR revenue with players.

I dont think NCAA can directly manage NIL, they will get owned in the courts.

Yup.

Put it to you like this, nobody would like it if the company that they worked for put a cap on their side hustle, but they expect a court to limit how much 18-22 Y/O men/women can make off the field of play.

Sounds hypocritical to me.

If the courts get rid of Title XI they can.

I dont see public donations being that big of a deal. 64% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and with inflation heating up that percentage will only increase. The number of wealthy people willing to donate to this "cause" just isn't there.

How many of you out there with some cash are lining up to donate?
This. Most of the money in this country is controlled by a really small group of people. Getting small donations from large groups is just drops in the bucket compared to what one wealthy donor can do. Look what UF and FSU are trying to do with their NIL collectives. Large public schools with huge alumni bases and they’re barely scraping together any kind of money at all. UM doesn’t have 1/5 the alumni base (especially in state) but we’re lucky that the small base we do have includes some very wealthy folks who are willing to help the program with generous donations. 1 billionaire donor is worth so much more than even a million regular Joes.

Exactly, there are only a few individuals with that kind of money in the entire country, who just happen to like college football enough to donate. THANK GOD Miami has a couple of those people.

Business and corporations are going to be the drivers, especially if they can see a return on their investments in college NIL deals.

If I was going to build a new stadium. I would be sure to follow the NFL model with corporate suites and naming rights.

College football is going to be semi pro.

Nail on the head here. A lot of these older college stadiums were designed back before luxury suites were a big deal. One suite is worth so much more money than an entire section of $25 bleacher seats. We've seen a bunch of remodels and expansions over the last few years to try to add them to already existing facilities. If Miami ever does build their own stadium it should definitely be in the NFL model of fewer overall seats but more luxury boxes and suites. It sucks for me, the average dude who's just happy in my cheap west endzone seats but I'm not the one financing NIL deals and donating money to build practice facilities and new stadiums so I don't complain.
