Former University of Miami players will be holding a roundtable on Thursday

“Well, gentlemen. All who agree the program sucks, say ‘Aye!’” “Aye!” “So let’s adjourn this meeting. We have reached unanimous consensus. Good talk, guys. Go Canes.”

Technically they will be sitting at a round table, not holding it.

On top of that, the table will probably be a rectangle.

I look forward to reading the Cliffs Notes.

Let’s see how much they donate to help cover the buyout.
To be fair, I don’t often hear or see other ex players at other programs contributing either to their schools, except Odell Beckham at the end of the championship game by giving handouts in front of the cameras and saying it was fake money, lol.

lol what former players?

I am all for our former greats coming out and supporting the team and giving coaching tidbits, mentoring kids, etc. but what does this do?

FFS you are going to end up with the likes of Chad Wilson, Earl Little Sr., Dan Sileo, all sitting around saying what needs to be done.

I'm going to sound like a pessimist, but I really don't understand what this is exactly going to accomplish. Blake James needs to be gone, as does Frenk for larger reasons outside of athletics. And we've all universally agreed that Diaz is a symptom, but dude needs to be gone as well. The players don't have the power to remove any of the aforementioned parties.

Having said that, moving forward and hoping all 3 people before mentioned are removed, the first thing that needs to be in place is a solid AD. If they want to go in the direction of Alonzo Highsmith, so be it. But let him make the decision without any type of influence from players, administration, fans, etc. Let it be his decision that you can properly evaluate him on.
I think Frenk is here a little longer. I think Blake and Manny go. Highsmith gets appointed to solve the football issue and then they find an AD that covers the rest of it.

I'm sure they're gonna give a look to Gino Torretta having been involved in radio and having a public perception of the college athletics landscape. He's got the asset management and investment background to know some high-rollers to raise money and do the contract work and all that. He's been the president of the UM alumni association. He's got all of the accolades and the pedigree and a pretty relevant background for it. Just more learning on the job having not been an AD or been involved in any athletic dept before. I don't see it as a big deal and being a former national champion, heisman winner, etc he'll get a pass from most of the fan base for not having that experience.

It the former players, and the decision makers on BOT and in the presidents office. The story is that there was a good deal of money raised by some players. @Cribby that sound right?
If it's only former players and some form of Soffer, Mas, Lemonis, DiMare, Epstein, etc from the BOT and Frenk, Rudy Fernandez, Joe Echevarria, from the admin don't show up.. it couldn't be less insignificant.

You can only say hire Alonzo Highsmith so many times. He can only advocate for the job and say he'll fix it so many times.
