This has left a bad taste in the mouths of 3-4 prominent BOT members. It sounds entirely ego-oriented and if they can get past that Butch is our guy.

Blake James will have ultimate authority in this hire but it sounds like he will be heavily guided by the BOT. A decision won't be made until Korn Ferry has come back with there search recommendations.

As far as salary goes, I have also heard that 4 million will be available with plenty of money for the right staff. The BOT and Blake James understands the scope of this hire and it appears that they will truly aim high with this coaching search, coordinators included.

As a bonus, the fellow alumni is having a meeting with Blake James and is strongly urging him to take a look at the best available coaches we can afford. I mentioned Tom Herman and talked to him about it and he is going to bring him up in the meeting. He also agreed that Butch is the ultimate hire for this program and I agree with him, but if all else fails Herman is the type of savage we need to win here.

Can you confirm that Golden and Donofrio were in fact butt buddies? There is no other reason Donofrio should be allowed to coach any level of football

Back to the OP. Remember that the selection of our new coach is a not a democracy. It is ultimately going to be made by Blake and Stuart. Period. So the fact that the popular vote wants a certain coach is by no means a guarantee.

I would say Dimare and Miller are ultimately making the hire. If James goes against what they say and hires somebody obscure, he'll be looking for a job.
 
It doesn't make any sense to say the only reason he isn't coach is because they want to make a real nationwide search.

That's a big reason, but the tenor makes it sound as several have their minds made up before an interview even takes place. That's a recipe for disaster in hiring decisions- especially for a guy who hasn't been here for 15 years and coached at all for several years. I'm not anti-Butch, I'm anti-poor process.

If the BOT's reservations have to do with the way he left then they need to grow the fack up and get over it. That was 15 years ago 15 freaking years!! Also the Brownstains gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. I can deal with Butch with Chud as HCIW. I could deal with Herman too. I'm glad to hear that they are taking this seriously and want to start to pay the money it takes to have an elite program. Also I'm thrilled that they are shooting for the stars. The thing is, I don't think Patterson, Gundy, or Dantonio are coming here. II actually hope it's Butch because I couldn't deal with Mario, *******, or Monkey Boy.
 
And lets not forget its been a pretty ****** time for about ten or so of those years since Butch left. So if they are but hurt over the way he left they should not forget that they have been much more butt hurt since we have not had him... Just get over yourselves there BOT and just sign the **** guy already. Let move forward!
