2022 FORMER Oregon Commit Dave luli; Sticks with Oregon

It's about to be hella miserable on here after tomorrow lol Not shaping up to be a good day...
Nothing new for us cane fans.Mario is learning what we all have for years now.Our class needs to be done by oct-nov because we just can't comptete with bag schools on signing days.

Diaz decimated this class by not recruiting. Cristobal is trying to salvage the class. It is not going as well as we might have hoped, but probably going as well as we should have expected considering the very poor condition of the class that Dias left behind.

the big problem with coming after a kid late is that it’s very hard to sell him on being a “priority” when he was ignored for months/years. And all kids want to feel prioritized in recruiting.

When was the last time Miami closed strong on signing day? Asking for a friend.

We’ll see Wednesday.

But the last 20 years has shown that the program limps to finish line in everything it does.

I’ve said it for years. Elite kids don’t get recruited. They are bought. Maybe this staff will figure it out. It’s no secret.

All I’ve been able to find out is dad signed off on him at Miami to play for Mario and Mirabal and would prefer him there. Mom wants him closer to home. The Oregon visit went better than he imagined, obviously.
So we know Mom wants him at Oregon and Dad prefers Miami. Any intel on Dave's current preference?

It seems like we're always on the wrong side of these battle's w/mom. And even when we're on the right side w/moms (ala Alex Collins), we still lose out.

Recruiting is not for the weak. @JayCane20 had dude at a 100% lock yesterday based on Sunday's intel. Yet the majority in this thread go into panic mode when momentum shifts. Its as if they think Mario's never seen a recruit get cold feet and consider flipping right before signing day. Mario may not be able to close this one, but folk here are acting as if he just gave up the instant bad news happened. From everything we've seen so far, Mario has contingency plans, and contingency plans for the contingency plans. He's definitely not throwing the towel in on Iuli so quickly.

04?

* He got plenty of praise for signing Skinner, Kelly, Moss - which is exactly what he's supposed to do if he's an "elite" recruiter as some say
* Pulling even with another school doesn't excite anyone, If Stewart signs with Miami, I'll gladly admit I was wrong.
* C'mon, if Iuli signs anywhere but Miami it's a complete failure by Mario, stop with excuses.
he’s had 3 months to fix an entire year of Diaz F ups can’t agree

Two parent household. Dad needs to sit the young man down and let him know he needs to go find his way in the world. If it’s Oregon, then fine, but don’t choose just because it’s close to home. Unless of course you are a SFLA kid, then you should stay home.

If Mario and his recruiting prowess can't pull kids here, I'm convinced no one can. We are doomed as a program

A few weeks back you were tearing people up for crying on the board.

What happened Mang? Do we all have the green light to pout now without repercussions from you???

Sounds a lot like someone else who used to post here. @AustinCane8866 anyone??

Agreed. Wish more SoFla kids had moms who wanted their kids close to home lol
West coast kids especially la kids are way more loyal to the area than sfl kids are to sfl. It’s why people said once Riley got to usc it will be tough to pull west coast kids out if they have a usc offer and usc wants them

Bro, chill. This is not only an 8 week transition class - Manny barely had any decent recruits committed in Dec when Mario took over. Mario saved every single guy he wanted, and still had to start with 5. Imagine if he had a nice 10-12 base?

He's done an outstanding job salvaging the class, regardless of how we close tomorrow. He's going up against other elite guys who have been recruiting the same kids to their schools for literally 10x longer.

His recruiting should be judged by his 2023 class. And not before. Be psyched with how we've salvaged this class.

To use an analogy, we were down 41-7 to close the 3rd Quarter after Manny Diaz tossed 3 INTs and gave up 2 fumbles on sacks. In comes Mario to start the 4th Quarter, and tosses 4 TDs to bring us to 41-35. Now with 2 minutes left in the game and the other team is trying to milk the clock, some are whispering that Mario is not the type of finisher we expected. He's underwhelming.

See how stupid this all sounds when you change the context a bit?

Some of you are insufferable.
