Former Miami DL Joshua Horton is Moving to the SEC

So he left Miami where he was going to be a rotational player for Georgia to maybe a rotational player at best. Probably 5th or 6th DT. Am I missing something?

I wish him the best. I was hopeful for him after seeing his Sr. tape. he was just hurt too long for him not to be passed up or his position to be outsourced to the portal. Not mad at him for wanting a fresh start. The silver lining is that his departure may bring us a DT that ready to be plugged in and play right away in the rotation. If not, a couple of the young pups will just have to step in.

Former Miami Hurricane defensive lineman Joshua Horton has joined the Georgia Bulldogs under coach Kirby Smart, marking a new chapter in the SEC.

This past season, Horton played in five games despite dealing with injuries. He recorded a total of four tackles, including a half-tackle for loss.

After graduating from high school, Horton, who was part of the 2023 class at Langston Hughes in Fairburn, Georgia, is returning home to play football. He was a four-star recruit when he finished high school.

It’s was Never a Question of Josh Horton Talent.Avalilability was his question.

He played 58 snaps in 2 years at Miami.

Am I the only one who thought he was a true freshman for 2 years?

UGA is taking a flyer on an athletic freak. We can’t afford a flyer we need a baller who is available right now. Mario needs to land Watson the Syracuse kid or someone just as good. No issue with that trade. But it absolutely must happen.
Wouldn’t surprise me if UGA still pursued Watson but he’s most Likely ending up at OSU. Im no insider but I have a strong sense of where he’s not ending up….

100% agree,Today our top 3 DTs are Scott,Blay and Moten, unless we can find someone in the portal all 3 will have to play major snaps for us this season.Next up is true freshman Simpson and undersized true freshman Newton and undersized red shirt freshman Russell.Have to think they let Horton go because they had a better replacement in mind, but I'm not so sure.DT is looking very similar to dbs last season, very thin and not much top end talent.
Scott is the most talented DT we have had here since Big Vince.

I was told any kid from Georgia that goes to Miami is just a guy the Bulldogs didn’t want. Yet they have now grabbed Jaden Harris and Josh Horton out of the portal. I guess they didn’t have “commitable” offers before but now two years and some pretty bad football later, Georgia actually wants them?

Good luck with both. All of a sudden Harris is going to take good angles and his football IQ is going to be good? Writing was on the wall with new staff at Miami.

Horton is another flyer. Couldn't stay healthy here. Because of it he was getting passed. Likelihood he'll be injuried this fall is high. Hard to overcome your history and SEC is a tougher league in the trenches.

So Georgia landed this guy who has been hurt for 2 years and Harris who is one of the worst DB’s I’ve ever seen in Miami history.

Yeah Harris is one of the worst DBs I’ve seen get a lot of playing time here. I’m highly doubtful he turns it around. Horton I have no opinion on because he never played. Maybe he pulls an Arroyo and has one big year after being hurt his entire career? Improbable but not impossible.

LOL you ******* clown.

You couldn't name a single guy that UGA wanted that we took in the last 10 years besides the guy we were discussing (Ny Carr) and it wasn't clear at all they fought to keep him.

Now you are using Jaden Harris and Horton as examples for your lame statements?

You are a joke.

I see this as nothing more than UGA taking a flyer on potential considering they would need to overpay for a starter at that spot and they can't poach any kids from other SEC teams in spring.
