Same, lost my dad to it around 8 years ago just after he retired. It was around 2 years post diagnosis but sucks to see it cripple someone and effectively choke the life out of him after a lifetime of being physically active. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.
 
Had a close friend die a year ago to this terrible disease. This thing is torture. I pray 1 day they find a cure.

Watched a family member go the same way. After that expirence if I was diagnosed not sure I'd let it go any further.
 
I used to know the family of DJ Scott at ECU, he was Chris’s left tackle there. I always heard good things about him, great guy. ALS is awful , sad to hear this.

Sorry man - this disease is awful.
 
So sad. Awful news and prayers for the young man and anyone else afflicted with ALS, Parkinson’s, or other neurological disorder. Some things we know so little about.

Yes he has/had Tourette's but there's no indication it's related.
 
Absolutely heart wrenching. CJ2K was in the prime of his life and for this insidious disease to come and rob him of his life is the most bitter of pills to swallow. I pray for Chris and his wife and four children. This is beyond horrible and I don't have the proper words to express my sadness.
 
I’m so sorry for any and all of you that have lost loved ones to this horrible disease.

Since a few of y’all have mentioned that you’ve dealt with ALS in your families, I figured I’d mention that one of my doctors at Emory is doing some incredible work with ALS, in case you wanted to check him out. His name is Dr. Nicholas Boulis, and he’s truly brilliant and has won awards for his ALS research. He also serves on the Michael J. Fox Foundation Advisory Committee. My neurologist told me that he sent an ALS patient to Dr. Boulis and he completely saved his life with his stem cell treatments.

He’s also just very cool and goes to Burning Man every year. And he rides a Harley to work every day. Not at all a stuffy Harvard guy.
