For The U to be back it all starts with...

He has a point tho I noticed that the greatest miami teams all had great senior leadership some even 5th year seniors who had instilled certain work habits now a days guys just want to do what they have to do to get to the next level without developing a champions mentality... But maybe our coaches have something to do with that the whole orange, green, black jersey thing kinda undermines senior leadership....

Yes Folden sucks but OP is right, the culture of players here sucks right now (and yes part of that is goldens fault) but the fact is some players seem like they don't care if they lose. And that's bull**** in my eyes. Bringing in a guy like Butch would help direct the culture in the right direction but ultimately the players need to show that heart and determination that the teams from the past have shown.

The program's culture right now would simply stifle any players who attempted to resuscitate old-school 'Cane behavior. Golden would bench players, for sure, maybe even cut them from the team, if they started trying to instill the sort of ethos that has made Miami great in the past. Why? Because it would amount to mutiny.

Who can succeed in these schemes? Come on man this is where 5* come to die. Anyone here think Chad is going to reach his potential here? The culture has to be in place for that to happen and its just not there. The vast majority of players need to be pushed to reach greatness but we are calling off practices and playing dodgeball. Yea ok its the players..

For the U to get back it would first need to improve on the defensive scheme.

Example: Run an attacking 4-3 defense, shooting the gaps. Coaching up the DBs to play better man coverage. Don't be afraid to recruit smaller athletes on defense as long as they have the SPEED and ATTITUDE to play the position.

To my next point, we need more speed. We need more speed. I can understand sometimes a team may run it down our throat but to beat us around the corner. That is where I draw the line.

Plese see the speed I am referring to at 1:45 of this video.

Sorry to live in the past.

What you guys don't get is that the players don't operate independently from the HC. If the HC is a loser who takes losing as easily as Folden and brags about alleged moral victories in defeat, then that will be the team's culture.

The HC is responsible for establishing the culture and for recruiting guys that fit the culture he wants to establish. In other words, by year 4 every drop of this diarrhea fountain is Folden's.

Butch Davis didn't establish a culture of toughness by accident. It was by design. He made it very clear in interviews that he recruited character above everything else. If two guys were close athletically and he could only take one of them he always went on character.

How does anyone who is not in the locker room know the culture of the players? Please let me know how you know the culture.

Assuming that the culture is busted, how can this not be totally El Foldo's fault? El Foldo is responsible for selecting and recruiting the players and also for letting the players know what is expected and setting the tone for the players. I would think that El Foldo is 100% responsible for a busted culture based upon poor evaluations, insuperable barriers set by horseshyt schemes and his clear desire to leave UM for another school.

And when the players are in a program that has had a decade of losing, including 4 years under the current regime, the players get used to it and become numb to it. That is our reality.

We are an NC State-level program. When you win some and (mostly) lose some year in and year out, then you're not going to be terribly upset at the losses. The lossed are expected by the administration, the coaches, and necessarily, the players.

Until we dump this loser, the losses will continue to mount.

Entire premise of this thread is the definition of ***-backwardry

It all starts with an administration that actually cares about football....said administration would then hire a REAL coach who is experienced and might be a little expensive...but hey, that's the cost of doing business.

That new coach would then be able to beat the Virginia's, GT's, Pitt's, and Louisvilles of the world...at a minumum...and would help keep more elite talent home. Hence, better players.

Attempting to even contemplate the possibility that this has anything to do with something other than our horrible administration and 3 straight ****** coaching staffs makes you an idiot. Anyone that can't see that doesn't deserve to even be a Canes fan at this point...you're simply part of the problem.

The BOT, Admin, the Troll and fake James are happy collecting ACC checks win or lose. The new President hopefully changes the environment or football at the U is finally dead.

I truly believe this. Moving to the ACC was great for the stuffed shirts because it removed the pressure of a results based system.

The Players.

A lot of people seen that Butch brought us back from the dead in the U Part 2 but what i notice in the similarities between the first and the sequel is the players wanting it badly. players holding themselves accountable. players taking defeats like the end of the world.

ED Reed- This is not why i came here. Im tired of losing

Players running practices by themselves.

Players playing the warchant all week (something Nick Saban does with his Bama players for rivalry games)

Players wanting it bad enough to bring this here U back.

We have none of that here right now. we need that spark and im hoping it starts with Kayaa because i see a lot of that in him. I fthe players can realize that The U they have on their Helmet represent a culture that will sacrifice anything to not lose. then we will find ourselves back. and if Golden cant bring a culture like that. he needs to go. point blank period.

Not sure if you realized this, but the HC is the one who brings in, trains, and develops the players. Maybe you missed the memo on the basics of college football.

Kaaya wants it bad and has that work ethic. I think he'll be leading practices and getting guys working without the coaches before spring practice. He may not have that "attitude" factor but guys like Berrios and Dobard do on offense. Defense is where were missing it. I always thought Perryman seemed like more of a lead by example guy. Can Jaquan Johnson, Burns, Chad Thomas, AQM grow to be that leader on defense?
