This is the stat that does wonders. We aren’t shooting ourselves in the foot. I don’t know much but I know you ain’t gon win consistently doing dumb stuff. Mario really does impressive things year over year.

- almost 500 yards and 8 yards per play
- and this happened in spite of State having 3 turnovers and 13 penalties
- and we played FAMU days after their State game …days

I am excited to see what we become however there are FCS teams and there are really bad FCS teams … we played a really bad one last night

In 2018 beat we Savannah State by the same score. That team finished 7-6.

This team is better, but the OP is right about the hysterics.
 
I think the message is clear, and it is never wrong: just when you have done good, don’t stop to count the accolades as there is something new to learn and accomplish around the corner. Mario understands this.

They aren't the 2001 Canes yet. We have no idea what this team is until the season ends (Mario saying something to that effect with McAfee or one of those interviews this past week).

But you're absolutely right, let's enjoy the ride. Last year none of us knew how special the year would turn into, and hopefully many of us take a moment somewhere amidst it all to appreciate what we experienced. Same this year.

Spafford's TD was awesome and Wingo looks great.

The 77-7 score meaningless in itself. We expect Miami to crush a team as bad as FAMU.

What I appreciate about the game were zero penalties up until the last final drive and the team played with energy the whole game rather than lethargic. How many times in the past would Miami have won this game by 35-40 while looking like they didn’t want to play and drawing a half dozen or more penalties?

This team tasted success last year, just not quite enough. Just missed the final prize.

And they can taste it this year.

I do expect to have tough games, but I don’t expect to have off days.

I was actually telling someone (a gaytor) before the game yesterday i doubt we hit this 59.5 spread. We let off the gas early normally and i dont remember the last time we scored 60 plus. Well i was wrong, he was telling me that game was wrong. I mentioned the gaytors and usce ducking us and he hasnt replied yet. Im glad So many young players shined gained confidence and played alot of snaps because we will need some this year and next.

I agree that FCS teams may be too bad for these guys, but playing lesser opponents does help. I can imagine it is hard for young guys like Cantwell to play with confidence when they are going against guys like Wilson, Blount, and Lightfoot every day in practice. Games like these help build that.

In addition, football is a game of confidence, which is acquired by succeeding against any competition. Not to mention the joy shown by Mallory, Wingo, and Spafford scoring their first college TD's. I'm not buying that they saw it as a meaningless scrimmage.
