I agree with that, but coaches like Saban, Dabo and Meyer have shown the way....pay the dollars and get the best coaching staff and players money can buy....good comes quick with elite right behind.

We are perpetually screwed at UM. We have the past sins guilt (some, if not most, not even justified) that keep us from "getting out of line" while other institutions treat NCAA compliance as nothing more than guidelines to circumvent in creative ways.

Each year we do this, we just keep going in circles. Sure, maybe Manny is a top notch head coach one day, but it will likely not be at UM. He has the type of year it looks we will have now....everybody forgets how we SHOULD HAVE beat UFag by 14-17 points. That SHOULD have been the only blip on the radar....now it looks like anybody we play could be competitive because we can't get out of our own way...coaches and players.

If things remain this way....there is just no way to keep the top notch talent at home. The top notch talent we MUST HAVE are the very OL and DTs we just can't seem to get now that we aren't winning big and aren't paying big. So, we get the top end skill players that we can't seem to get the ball to...then, all world DEs that we depend on while the middle is basically up from grabs.

SAD REALITIES. I'M STILL SO SICK TO MY ******* STOMACH AND NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER TO KEEP WATCHING THIS ****** RERUN.

The big recruit bidding wars are $$$$$ too. Reality is Miami just doesn't have that booster support where we are throwing 100k at a kid to come play here, even if we could they'd shut us down, even though we all know it's happening at every top 10 program.

How much would it cost us to at least run the table on the basketball teams? UNC, Duke, Virginia?

The jury is still out on this one....right now it could go either way.

I just wish they paid as much attention to actual game planning.......as they did to designing celebration trinkets.....or developing "special packages " for disgruntled players
 
I have a different answe:

Accountability.

Stop allowing HCs to hire friends, sons, brothers, mothers, etc. I think Manny can be the face of a program. I mean, Dabo has done well but nobody was calling him a born leader before the NCs.

We need someone (preferably an AD with balls) that makes our HC hire qualified coaches who deserve to be at a program like UM.

Our D **** the bed last night and who will hold anyone on that staff accountable? Their buddy that hired them? Its Golden all over again (I'm exaggerating but I'm sure you understand).

Even if we could afford to play the bag game, it would be a huge risk. We’re already hated by the general public and the NCAA. Don’t think that if we start getting all these elite recruits that the NCAA doesn’t come digging around. They turn a blind eye to the SEC (sans the Mississippi schools) and a few others here and there. But make no mistake, they will try to hammer us on just accusations alone.
