I'm a Butch guy 100% so we can leave him out of this discussion. Since Mario is being given heavy consideration by the search committee, let's just mention some positives attributes he has:

1. All the top SoFl recruits are familiar with him, he's part of the staff that is evaluating who they are and the ones he's recruiting that do sign will be 4* or 5* nothing less. Understand he's recruiting for Bama, but he still has to be good because he's recruiting against schools better than Canes and idiots like Al Golden. I say he'd pull in top 10 classes, plus the majority top SoFl talent.

2. You can't go to MIT and not learn some high level ****. Well when it come to how to build a championship caliber team consistently, then Bama is MIT. Forget FIU, His insights from being there will pay dividends for organizational structure, recruiting, development, practice and game day.

3. We are loyal fans and have our wishes, but we gotta admit having the high school coaches support is more important than us Chat Room Corches and AD's. Plus he has the support of many former players. We tout the importance of Baez and the former Canes currently on staff, who's to say his former Canes staff members won't be better? Not to say these guys, but for comparison: Lamar Thomas WR's, Kevin Patrick DL, Vilma LB's and Ed Reed DB's. See I wouldn't be concerned about what former Canes may want jobs.

4. We coming off the worse coaches in football history (AL, Dorito & Coley). We know Mario is 5 wins better than Al if he coached from home. He knows the better coaches plus many will solicit their interest in joining the Hurricane staff. Coaching goes way up.

5. Plus the practices will be more physical, competition increases, players put in right position and used better for their skill set. We soft because Al wanted to be the band leader of concussion prevention. Guys like Chocolate, Njoku and speed guys will be primary contributors.

6. Lastly he'll have less need to evaluate potential recruits since he already familiar with the many, if not all the top tier recruits in SoFl. He can have his lists ready day one and the staff can hit the road. Sign a few more top SoFl recruits and a few flips and we back in business.

The TRAITOR doesn't have the clap. That's a good thing.

the ultimate positive is that all the high school coaches, recruits, and our former players love the dude and all think he should be the first choice....so the support behind the hire would be insane

the fan base would obviously feel differently

This disqualifies you from having an opinion.
So every single Saban assistant learned that "high level s h I t"?
Let's go get BOBBY WILLIAMS!!!

When Butch, for example, pulls into town, believe me, the local recruits will likewise get familiar with the UM crew.

Good thing is, Butch and crew will go where they have to - in order to stack the team with top athletes.

In one or two recruiting cycles - those locals will be lining up to get an offer.

Hate to speak well of Golden, but in what universe is Mario's resume now better than Al's when he go the job at THE U? Mario got fired at FIU for failing. FIU! Al at least gave the false impression of winning at Temple, which tough sad is still better than FIU! Not to mention Coley. You label him among worse coaches in history, which a concur with, but do you know who he worked as OC for before Jimbo? That's right, Mario.

We might as well have kept Al and saved the money if we are going to higher Mario.

High level ****? Very articulate OP. Your point is null and void on the grounds that if you went to MIT, you wouldn't be able to comprehend and understand how to learn and apply the "high level ****." Thus, you and Mario are one in the same and neither have the capacity to learn "high level ****," whether it be football, or MIT course material.

There are no positives

Al golden recruited well during his time at Miami...he missed on some studs but he got talent...did not make a difference. We need a HC not a recruiter.
2. You can't go to MIT and not learn some high level ****. Well when it come to how to build a championship caliber team consistently, then Bama is MIT. Forget FIU, His insights from being there will pay dividends for organizational structure, recruiting, development, practice and game day.speculative at best....plenty of people at MIT who work really hard and fail...its not like Sabens knowledge transfers to Mario via osmosis

3. We are loyal fans and have our wishes, but we gotta admit having the high school coaches support is more important than us Chat Room Corches and AD's. win and this takes care of itself...yes being a good recruiter and buklding relationships are qualities needed for a HC but they are just part of the list of qualities NOT the list
4. We coming off the worse coaches in football history (AL, Dorito & Coley). We know Mario is 5 wins better than Al if he coached from home. He knows the better coaches plus many will solicit their interest in joining the Hurricane staff. Coaching goes way up.
Cuban Al had Coley as his OC.....Mario has never proved that he can win as the head man anywhere so your 5 win statement is speculative and inaccurate
5. Plus the practices will be more physical, competition increases, players put in right position and used better for their skill set. We soft because Al wanted to be the band leader of concussion prevention. Guys like Chocolate, Njoku and speed guys will be primary contributors.
100% speculation

I'll address these in order:

1. All of the South Florida recruits are indeed familiar with him. I'm just wondering, how many South Florida guys, more specifically Dade, has he got to go to Bama? Zero. Goose eggs. Anybody can recruit Bama. Him being handed national recruiter of the year is a given to anyone who's put in that position. Anyone can sell Bama. Anyone.

2. Him being at Bama doesn't mean crap as far as learning. Some guys have their ceilings. Some coaches are meant to be position coaches, coordinators, and head coaches. Everyone has their own ceiling. The Nick Saban tree is far from perfect, and for every Jimbo Fisher and Mark Dantonio, there's also a Derek Dooley and Will Muschamp.

3. The only reason HS coaches support Mario is because he's the fast track to their careers. If he's the coach they'll be telling him (not asking) that they need to be on his staff. Once he denies them, so too will their support wane. Then we run into the issue of coaches sending their players to other schools.

4. Mario's 5 wins better than Golden? He's probably a better coach then Golden (isn't saying much). But Golden with an average schedule has 6/7 wins. You're telling me that Mario's going to get 11 wins or go undefeated? Hahahahahaha. Him knowing the better coaches? How do you come up with this? He found Coley who's in the running for one of the worse OC's to ever come through Miami. And if Mario is hired, he may even retain Coley.

5. How do you know this? The only track record we have of Mario's is 27-47. Based on that record (even though it's FIU), it's hard to say that he puts guys in the right position. His crowning achievement is winning the Little Caesars Bowl.

6. You can say that about any other coach outside of Butch. And even then, given what Butch accomplished here, an eye for talent and being able to evaluate said talent. I wouldn't doubt that Butch could keep most of the class together. Mind you, although I'm a Butch supporter, I'm of the group that believes that there are better candidates out there.

Exactly. Derek Dooley was with Saban in college AND the NFL. This osmosis argument is such garbage.

The only positive I can think of with Mario is that I'll continue to save thousands of dollars a year because Miami football will be officially done and there will be no need for me to end my hiatus and start making contributions or buying tickets again.

This. If they hire this bum, I am done with this program for good.

I wish there was a way to make this post an auto response to every mouth breather on Twitter who is campaigning for Mario.

I can't think of too many positives for Cristobal. I highly doubt he'll be the next coach and he isn't worthy of the large number of threads discussing him.

Pagano and Chud should be discussed more often as they are both far, far more qualified when discussing anyone with ties to Miami...

From what I remember, this is not accurate. He got fired at FIU because he and Pete Garcia couldnt get along. Mario walked around there like he was Nick Saban and didnt want listen to anybody and Pete wasnt having that. Hence, him being shown the door. Remember, even though Mario was coming off a horrific season (3-9) he was only one season removed from having one of the best seasons in FIUs history. (8-5)

Al that said, I dont want him.

But the one and only positive he would bring is that at least for the first 1 or 2 full recruiting classes we would virtually cleanup in SoFla. But the problem with that theory is so did Randy. And when the buzz/shine wears off after a few 8-4/7-5 seasons recruits and the HS coaches will start to turn on him just like they did Randy and Al. And then the bottom falls out.

The TRAITOR doesn't have the clap. That's a good thing.

Butch worked hard to restore the U but left the U high and dry ....
1. As soon as he could get out from under it. Like he was running away as fast as he could.
2. With a championship squad on the table. Like he didn't care about winning a ship at the U.
3 After lying to recruits and the fans in the national media. Like he didn't give F about the U.
4. For the worst football team in all of football. The FN browns!

Mario left the U.
1. As soon as he got wind that he wasn't going to be able to change anything because Golden was **** bent on his way which was without a doubt going to end in rapid failure.
2. For the best school in the country that would undoubtedly further his career.

We certainly have different definitions of traitors.

I dont want Mario here as a HC but he is coming in as the OC or the AHC.

Its not a guaranteed thing but if you look at the coaches that credit Jimmy Johnson for their careers it cannot be ignored.

The fact that Mario has generated zero interest from any other programs for his services should speak volumes. Why do you think that is? Why would someone not want to bring in a guy that "turned around" a lowly FIU program. Why would other schools not want to bring in such an incredible recruiter with such tremendous ties to South Florida? Thats because thats all a big fallacy. He got 2 kids from a corrupt Monarch program to commit to Alabama last year. You are blind if you don't realize something grimy went on behind the scenes with Ridley and SBB's recruitment. Jerry Sandusky could win recruiter of the year at Alabama. Its a winning program that has been churning out NFL talent. They were landing 5 star talent before he arrived, and they will continue to land 5 star talent if he leaves. That program recruits itself - with the help of the Red Elephant Club's donation$. You'd have to think if Mario was such a promising, up and coming coach, that somebody, anybody besides us would have to have at least a little bit of interest in hiring him. But nobody wants him. Yet here we are, still discussing him.
