For a record number of early entries a risky proposition

40 some odd years ago I taught math in inner city Dade County middle school. Half my male students were absolutely certain they where going to the NFL. I doubt that kids today are any different and certainly not having play major D1 school especially at The U. For me, I am still waiting for Air Force One to drop in and pick me up. Dreams die hard, especially as morning approaches and nothing during the night has awaken you from it.

Sad ****. But they have the Canadian football league to go and develop. And concerning our boys RJ and Norton I hope they get the results they want.

Hope springs eternal. That will never change.

I hope for their sake they made a good decision but that remains to be seen.

This article is going to trigger the "get money" crowd here who seem to believe leaving to be a late round pick or going undrafted is always better than staying in school.

Entitled, me first millennials are starting to enter the league. They couldn't resist the instagram post of them declaring

I think there are many kids who aren’t the least bit interested in a college education. The first chance they get to leave, they bolt. Roll the dice and hope it will work out in their favor. It’s a very shortsighted view IMO.

I can confirm that mentality Dingaan1828, and it's one shared beyond the student-athletes to the general population of students.

They jus tryna feed they families.

Has to be looked at case by case. If your situation says you can't wait a year and need to leave right now then you gotta go for whatever the reason may be. If you have the patients to wait one year ,you could be looking at 3 to 4 times more money and a much more secure future.

lol that's some perspective

That’s exactly what they are trying to do. Why are you belittling them for that and mocking them?

Racist POS.

In spite of their own stupidity, I wish them well. Mine is not the only opinion that it’s, statistically speaking, not going to end well. Calling them racists POS does nobody any good. Be more thoughtful in your approach, buddy.

The CFL, how many make the move to the NFL these days?

Warren Moon, he did it and at a high level. I don't follow the NFL much these days, but he's the biggest name I recall. Surely there are others, but who are they?

If it is true that McIntosh and Norton are destitute, as well as their families, then they had no choice but to enter the draft early. Yet, your comments along those lines are the first I have read that suggest that to be so.

The issue that most posters on this thread are speaking to is both of them may be very disappointed by their draft performance, which may very well cost them millions upon millions of dollars. Many believe that another year with the "U" would have better honed their skill levels and their draft prospects, thus they could have been financially set for life.

Needless to say, but now that they've committed I hope they both are drafted in the 1st round.
