I was born and raised in another country and played rugby at the high school level for a couple of years. When I came to the US I figured I would try out for the football team because of my rugby experience. It was only the JV team but I was shocked at the difference in aggression and violence of football compared to what I was used to playing rugby. I played JV football for 2 years but bailed on trying out for the varsity team -- I just couldn't adjust to the intensity of it -- and stuck with playing soccer. You guys keep talkin' about tackling.
That's not where the most violent collisions are.
There's 240lb-340lb guys in the box that bang head-first into each other every play.
Within the box it's extremely hard to keep your head out of contact. Take the helmets away and guys will be bleeding all over each other.
And stop comparing rugby to football.
Football is more violent and the players are bigger, faster and more explosive.

Basketball is a contact sport. Football is a collision sport.
Quote from Bill Russel, one of my all time favorite contact sport players.OK Hmmmm
You do have to make contact in order to collide so.....it could be called either one
Also isn't contact between players in Basketball sometimes called a foul....because although it occurs, ideally per BB's own rules players really shouldn't be making contact.
