Following recruiting back in the day

Anybody remember the old Jeff Whitaker's Deep South Football recruiting guides? He'd put out one pre-season and then another season recap. Wifey has me cleaning out the attic and I found a box with these in em, thought it was interesting to look back and some of Butch's classes from 97 and 98.

Cool find. Thanks for posting that! One thing I find really interesting looking at those two classes is how many of the recruits are NOT from the Dade/Broward/Palm Beach area. Sort of dispels that myth about how we just cleaned up in those counties in the past and got whoever we wanted, and didn't have to go outside the area much.

It's absolutly a mith. Look at the 2001 defense the majority are not from south florida

LOL oh man! What a blast from the past. I used to pick those up every year. I loved those recruiting guides. Before the mags came out I used to follow recruiting by calling the Bill Buchalter recruiting hotline here in Orlando. My have times changed. I feel old.

Sheven Marshall was a very nice player who got hurt. He stays healthy he probably starts over Vilma in the middle in 2001.

Can you post a pictures of the write up for Edgerrin James from the 97 issue? Thanks, would like to read his assessment.

Didn't know they still had the ten commandment tablets still, never followed recruiting or cab back then.
