Folden on Joe Rose

Yes, 5 to 6 yards is the proper depth against the Flexbone for the MIKE. You put him 3 yards off the ball then I'm running midline all day long and twice on Sundays because he'll be lost in the wash and can't scrap. You don't even understand the offense that I can tell you. There were other things they should have done in that ballgame. They did make some adjustments and move the nose to 1-technique but they really needed to walk the safety up and tighten the edge guys.

He was MORE than 5-6 yards off on MULTIPLE short yardage situations. I'm not arguing to bring him even closer. The fact is, he was not in position to make the plays. You know how I know it was our scheme and NOT our players? Because a team rushed for 343 ****ing yards and we had ZERO tackles for loss. Stop shifting blame on the players and own up to the fact that we were OUTCOACHED.

Sure, we were outcoached. That was obvious. But please tell me how we were to stop the dive when our two tackles were getting dominated. What are you going to do about the midline and the option? You don't stop the dive in a base defense against Flexbone it makes for a long night.

We were protecting all night from the deep ball (Golden even admitted this). Should have stacked the box. Having your LBs playing 8 yards of the ball was insane. Especially on the short yardage situations. Screen shots have been posted on this site. It's there. Not like it's a matter of opinion at this point.

Question for you. Do you think Duke's fumble cost us the game?

No, he was trying to make a play. It was a huge swing.

Glad to hear that answer because it was not the reason for the loss. I don't think it was as huge a swing as Golden made it out to be. We came back and scored and were still only 7 points down early in the 4th. Until we gave up 10 straight points. No doubt it was a hit, but was not the reason why we lost, as many have said on this site.

I'll never understand how people downplay turnovers.

Especially turnovers in a game of few possessions.

Dude yall people crazy we have a Coach who care about this school and i know some of yall fan who are still living in the past fan dont understand that this program is really trending up and yall can't give Coach the credit he deserves because we are not winning the **** man is rebuilding a program that was down in the dumpster. Listen iam a young Canes fan so my take on Golden is different i love the guy he is a Leader like he said yesterday on the Joe Rose morning show its easy for people to stand in the back in point fingers and put someone down instead of leading and thats soooo true. I would love to see what yall are going to say when we beat FSU whats going to be yall crazy fans excuses "we beat a weaker FSU team" GTFO of here man yall need to really chill and support the man and his GREAT Staff because they not leaving we are staying the course either your with us or against it doesn't matter....

Who's downplaying? I'm just saying it didn't cost us the game like many have said on this site. Armstrong fumbled at midfield, late in the 1st and 4 plays later we scored a TD. Should that have cost Nebraska the game? Remember, Duke's fumble occurred just after an Armstrong INT. And if it wasn't for a garbage TD with 22 seconds remaining, we would have lost by 17. Duke's fumble did not cost us the game. 343 yards against did.

This makes it all the more glaring. We were marching down the field against them after the pick and about to either tie the game or take the lead.

Suddenly, you go from marching to tie/take lead...to being down two possessions. It might not have lost us the game, but to deny that it had a TREMENDOUS impact on the outcome is to be ignorant.

OP cant let it go . Maybe our young defensive players are starting to get it and we have had better tackling and some better blitz packages. Players are reacting better in zone coverage . Very simple minded people just think the defense was totally changed . It hasnt been -its just been executed a lot better.
The matchups the last three games have been more favorable too. The defense was pretty good against Louisville but was on the field too much. The game plans against Nebraska and GT stunk. Thats on the coaches But this has become a much better defense . It has benefitted from an offense that is controlling the ball and winning time of possession. We never did that last year.

DP is a player the Golden Girls have offered as an example of one of our players "just getting it" now, all of a sudden. Denzel is a senior. Golden has corched him from day one. If it takes a defensive player 3 1/2 years to "get it" then we are truly ****ED and our issues are much deeper than a lying, piece-of-**** corch.

So which is it. Alice is corching her *** off but it takes almost four years for players to finally grasp whatever scheme her and her bff are selling. Or maybe my eyes aren't lying to me and the defensive scheme has changed, and it just miraculously coincides with a **** ton of pressure being thrown on Golden's soft shoulders.

LULZ at Folden's **** mops referring to this as a young defense. This is about as veteran as a college defense can be.

lol indeed. Not only do you have upperclassmen in this defense, but they are multi year starters! Pierre, Chick, DP, Thurston, Kirby, Howard, Gunt, Bush, Fentress, et al. That's a lot of seasoned upperclassmen that Golden plays. And that's not even mentioning guys like Kamalu and Heurt who are older guys who happen to be new to the program.

Just wait until next year when the excuses start pouring in about youth.

Next year will get ugly on defense. Dumb people are always ragging on Chick, but they don't realize how good he is at doing what he's supposed to do in this defense. Perryman is one of the best we've had here. The Millionaire will be missed too. Lots of veterans out there who happen to be good talented football players.

Dude, just stop. Somehow, Nebraska overcame their turn over that resulted in 7 points for us and commenced to beat us. And let me remind you, we were only down by 7, early in the 4th, AFTER the Duke fumble, and still lost. Because we continued to play off the ball and protect against the big play. 343 rushing yards against. THAT is what had a TREMENDOUS impact.

We turned the ball over 3 times on the road.

You can attempt to neglect that all you want. It's still there.

And the rushing yards had nothing to do with the gameplan against Nebraska and EVERYTHING to do with players being undisciplined.

Turnovers are only important when UM makes them and then loses by 17 to a sorry *** Big 10 team corched by a moron.

Funny how the players always choke and forget how to execute when we play a team with a pulse. Then, when we play terrible teams, they suddenly look like savage scientists out there dissecting and destroying and doing everything according to the book of Folden. These nut leeches are a riot, man.

Yep, it's happened many times here on the boards. I still remember the year we lost Santonio Thomas - dude was a part time starter and losing him was all of a sudden equivalent to a 9 time AA. The same will be said about Chick next year. His reputation will take on Paul Bunyan-esque proportions.

Blame the players and call yourself a fan. SMH

53 rush attempts, ZERO tackles for loss. That's scheme. Unless you really think McNeese State has better, more disciplined players than us? Considering they had 9 TFL with only 33 Nebraska rushing attempts.

Turnovers don't happen in football games. When then players stop ******* around, we'll have zero turnovers like all the other top teams in the country.

And when they do, they certainly can't be overcome. Just ask Nebraska when they turned the ball over 2 times against us. They only proceeded to KICK OUR ******* ASSES.
