Folden on Joe Rose

OK, let me get this straight. After getting trounced by several mediocre teams, AG mentions lack of execution as one of the reasons. Fans bash him for throwing the players under the bus.

Fast forward. The defense is executing whatever defense it is they're calling, which certainly looks different to the casual fan. Instead of taking credit for changing the scheme, AG says the players are just executing better, which would be the opposite of throwing the players under the bus (instead, giving the players all the credit). Fans bash AG for not admitting that he changed anything.

Do I have that right?

Completely wrong. The part you missed is that by saying now the players are executing better, means that it was the players who failed before, and not the coaches even though it's obvious the coaches changed things.

This is a perfect example of the coaches deflecting blame. At no point in time are they willing to take the blame and admit they needed to adjust what they were doing. Instead the players magically flipped a switch all at the same time and the whole team just figured it out.

I recall hearing him many times say that the lack of execution was his and the staff's fault, which it clearly was. So, yeah, I don't buy your explanation, but really it doesn't matter. I think we both recognize that the coaching staff was to blame, although the talent level and lousy offense certainly didn't help matters.

Who gives a sh*t? We're winning. Whether its players doing better, coaches making adjustments, I mean why are people whining about this kind of stuff that he doesn't give credit, that he blames, I mean seriously listen to what you're whining about. This is football, not play school.

You're a complete idiot. My post is answering the question that the quoted poster asked when he said "Do I have it right?" Please go back to school and understand context.

With that said, people give a ****, because he's showing what kind of person he truly his. He's the type of coach who throws his players under the bus to save him and his buddy. Seriously, if Al came out and just said, "I found some weaknesses in what we were doing and I've made adjustments I feel will fix those weaknesses," half of the people against him, might consider holding back a little. It's the simple fact that until recently he had refused to make changes and when he finally does, he will only say it was the player's fault.

Moron, I repeat Who Gives a Sh*T? Stop whining about if Al says this or if Al says that, or if he credits the players instead of blaming the players than you will like him and respect him and support him. Give it a break already. You sound like one of his ex-girlfriends.

Really? Then why didn't y'all hold back the 800 times he's said, "we've got to get better and that starts with me"? Let's rant for 6 pages because he said they are executing better. OMG!

Dude (I'm assuming your dude), you are whining about the very thing I am telling you, which is, nitpicking at things he says on the radio after 3 straight wins and a very good chance at beating the #2 team in the country in two weeks.

You guys make me laugh. You were nowhere to be found the entire time we looked like a clown college on the field for weeks, because you realized there was no defense for it. he says it starts with me then immediately follows up by throwing players under the bus. If it starts with you then the players don't even need to be mentioned. Then a couple good games against bad opponents and you guys come out from under your rocks in full force.

Again, it's not nitpicking when it either is or it isn't the issue. He's continuously saying the players aren't executing. That is 100 % saying the players are at fault. That's not nitpicking for stupid comments, that is placing blame. That cannot be interpreted any other way. That sounds nothing like we need to make adjustments. you guys are constantly the *****ing fans are driving away recruits and showing no support for the players, but how would you feel as a player to know that you are not the issue, but are being blamed for it or as a recruit that knows that's what you can look forward to.

Then I got another guy telling me he owned up to it. But really he owned up to Louisville where it was obvious it was a coaching problem after the gameplan they called on offense. Then it was again obvious when we let Nebraska dominate us with 13 passing attempts. He can't hide his deficiencies in execution alone on that one.

Again it is not nitpicking. It is what it is.

OP cant let it go . Maybe our young defensive players are starting to get it and we have had better tackling and some better blitz packages. Players are reacting better in zone coverage . Very simple minded people just think the defense was totally changed . It hasnt been -its just been executed a lot better.
The matchups the last three games have been more favorable too. The defense was pretty good against Louisville but was on the field too much. The game plans against Nebraska and GT stunk. Thats on the coaches But this has become a much better defense . It has benefitted from an offense that is controlling the ball and winning time of possession. We never did that last year.

has it really gotten to the point where certain people have to ***** about our coach not admitting to changes they THINK he made on defense? lol god only our fan base. and what makes it worse its only really a small percentage of people that are like this, and yet the are the LOUDEST, its annoying.

Too much logic not enough emotion or irrational hate

DP is a player the Golden Girls have offered as an example of one of our players "just getting it" now, all of a sudden. Denzel is a senior. Golden has corched him from day one. If it takes a defensive player 3 1/2 years to "get it" then we are truly ****ED and our issues are much deeper than a lying, piece-of-**** corch.

So which is it. Alice is corching her *** off but it takes almost four years for players to finally grasp whatever scheme her and her bff are selling. Or maybe my eyes aren't lying to me and the defensive scheme has changed, and it just miraculously coincides with a **** ton of pressure being thrown on Golden's soft shoulders.

We are executing better. Same scheme, better execution, better job of players playing their roles and sticking to their assignments. That allows the overall defense to play more aggressively.
B.S. You really believe that after 3 and a half seasons, the light bulb just magically turned on for the players at exactly the same time when Golden's seat was starting to get warm? These guys who were highly touted recruits in high school, somehow forgot or never knew how to tackle or cover a WR, but now they are suddenly tackling better and blanketing receivers and it has absolutely nothing to do with a scheme change? I'm not buying that for a second. Golden clearly will not admit it publicly but this is a different defense then the one we have seen for the last 3 seasons.

You will not get an honest answer from any Golden Girl. His **** is so deep down their collective throats it's cutting off oxygen to their pea-sized, estrogen filled brains.

Oh baloney....the best we can all agree is there have been subtle changes to the defense. I will tell you this. Go watch Perryman against Nebraska and then against Virginia Tech and he is attacking and shedding in the latter game. They haven't changed his assignments.

But they changed the depth in which he plays.

Much easier to shed a block and make a tackle of your 3 yards away from it as compared to being 14 yards away from it.

They did not change his depth. A MIKE needs to be 5 to 6 yards off the LOS. 3 yards away for a MIKE makes it nearly impossible to scrape.

The PLAYER didn't CHANGE. He's the same player vs VaTech as he was vs Duke as he was vs UNC as he was vs Louisville. Or are you saying that it takes a player like DP three and one half ****ING YEARS TO "GET IT"??? If so, THAT right there is a problem. Alice has been coaching him for three and a half YEARS!!!!! And he's JUST NOW GETTING IT??? Really? You live in bizarro world where that makes any sense whatsoever? Thanks for using him as your example because if DP isn't getting it until mid season than we will NEVER win a Coastal championship and will lose 2-3 early season games, every single year. You understand that's what you're saying, right?

I realize it is difficult to understand, but when your All-American candidate plays a bad game you're in trouble in most cases. Denzel played poorly against Nebraska. That's a statement of fact. He didn't play especially well against Georgia Tech.

some of you guys have single cell brains.

what is he going to say? yes, we made the mistake of not making adjustments and because were (or are) close to getting fired, we made some significant adjustments by playing closer to the LOS, being more aggressive etc.

absolutely not.

Or maybe the players are just executing an extremely complicated defensive scheme better. No need to hate on the man for giving the players some credit finally.

We're in his fourth year. If you're telling me that it took mid season to turn things around, then we're gonna lose early season games every year. You understand what you're saying right?

You're being awfully critical of what we've been waiting for 3.5 years now

There were changes in the overall alignment of that defense. Comparing Denzel's production in both games is comparing apples to oranges.

Exactly how is that? Denzel was 5 to 6 yards off the ball which was proper depth. He was off his game. Didn't shed well and was late to scrap. He's a terrific player and worthy of All-American status. He just didn't play well. It happens.

How much of Folden **** is down your throat, Sabrina. Breathe, Beeeyatch, Breathe.

LULZ at Folden's **** mops referring to this as a young defense. This is about as veteran as a college defense can be.

lol indeed. Not only do you have upperclassmen in this defense, but they are multi year starters! Pierre, Chick, DP, Thurston, Kirby, Howard, Gunt, Bush, Fentress, et al. That's a lot of seasoned upperclassmen that Golden plays. And that's not even mentioning guys like Kamalu and Heurt who are older guys who happen to be new to the program.

Just wait until next year when the excuses start pouring in about youth.
