I mess with it. Haha all we got the last 15-20 years is reminiscing about certain players that brought us joy in the midst of the crap. I'm here for it.

And Deejay was awesome. Not the greatest player we ever had but a great Cane from the moment he committed and had great moments. That run vs Tech was ridiculous.

His long TD runs vs Va Tech and the Crocs were incredible. Zero blocking, just DeeJay willing his way to the end zone from about 50 yards out.

**** I forgot about the Florida one. Should have won that game but again not from a lack of will and trying on Deejay's part. He needed more guys like him on the roster but I'm glad he's carved out a career.
 
A bright spot in a boring decade. Glad he chose Miami. And in a lame loss, I enjoyed his runs against Wisconsin.

No, I love them, just the title makes me think of someone's passing. We've had enough former players pass too soon.

On its face, this makes sense and seems reasonable... but don't let this man fool you @Jaxcane4! If you do a quick search for "Walton" threads by @bshaw28, you will get an entire portfolio of hits (10 pages), including some strong gut punches like these...

I appreciate the research. Now that you presented all the evidence it does seem quite personal. Not sure what Walton did to offend him but apparently this grudge goes back a long ways.
 
2 TDs immediately come to mind. The one he took long against UF(I thought we had them at that point probably like some others). Other one is from that Duke game that was in the middle of a monsoon. But unfortunately both games were losses. He was pretty instrumental in recruiting Don to Miami also fwiw.

Walton is the low hanging fruit

You're 100% right - I'll take almost any P5 RB the last 25 years and say "Look at (insert any P5 RB) vs Walton vs P5 teams" and Walton will look worse.

It's pretty ridiculous - both in the fact that I do it and how much worse Walton comes out vs any other RB.

For DeeJay - it actually does make sense to compare DeeJay & Walton. It was very fortunate that Walton got injured or else DeeJay doesn't move to RB. It worked out well for both players, and Miami fans.

There is no grudge or anything personal against Mark Walton. Why is that your conclusion?

Look at the numbers below. That's my issue with Walton.

So my only thing is I'm not the type to bash players unless they are like Jarren Williams for example and rumors are out there how he didn't prepare as he should. If you want to get mad at a coach for not over recruiting the talent on the team or playing the right players go for it. Just my opinion though Mark Walton graduated early to sign with us during a bad time, Cronkrite, Scarlett and kid that went to notre dame all left us. I remember the app state game when people said we were on upset watch and I want to say it was the first drive he took off on a long run and that was it from there. Also I'm pretty sure him and Cam Harris both have had big plays against FSU that were called back for dumb penalties. By no means am I saying he was an above average running back compared to other running backs we have had but from what I remember he was more of a leader vs someone that didn't try and I personally think we could of used something like that last year when we had no passion whatsoever on offense. So I would just call out Golden or Richt personally if they made poor game management decisions.

Totally agree. Walton was a leader who always tried his hardest and did the best he could. Can't question his effort. And you're right, he should be be blamed for the coaches shortcomings in recruiting and usage decisions.

But back to DeeJay - anyone that liked Walton should've LOVED DeeJay Dallas (see stats above - they speak for themselves).

DeeJay broke tackles at this highest rate of any Cane RB in the last 10 years (by a good amount). And he always stepped up in our biggest games.

These clips in the Florida game are what I would say is his best moment. You can see the tackle breaking on display.

I agree but there are certain game highlights I can't watch and that's one of them. It's a shame he did have a great game shouldn't have lost. Lashlee was a year to late.
