I don't care how the rest of the college football world views us, but I do care how the CFP selection committee views us. Yes, if we continue to win and win the conference, we are in the playoffs. If the selection committee views us as frauds or not legit contenders, we might get a lower seeding in the playoff bracket.

Look at how the committee viewed FSU last year. I know this year is different with a 12 team playoff, but we might not get that auto bye if we don't look dominate down the stretch.
that's not exactly true, an undefeated ACC champ is a top 4 seed based on the playoff criteria. the only way how the cfp committee views us is if we have a loss

Ok, thanks for the explanation. I need to study the format for the 2024 cfp bracket and seeding. I thought the 4 highest ranked conference champions were seeded 1-4 and got the bye. The 5th will be seeded where it was ranked or determined by the CFP.

If we continue to win, I don't see a scenario where we are not in the top 4, but stranger things have happened.

I’m pretty sure the 4 P4 conference champs are seeds 1-4. Highest ranked non P4 conference champ gets a bid.

He can't win **** at Ole Miss. He can at Florida. You know he wants back in the state. FSU is stuck with Prison Mike. There is enough top talent in Florida where he can pulled regardless of what Mario does.

Only 2 coaches have won at UF

Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer

Lane Kiffin isn't either of those

UF is one of the most overrated programs in the history of college football

Thanks. That makes more sense now. I thought for some reason the P4 conference champs all get an automatic bid, but not a bye. The highest ranked non P4 conference champ could out rank us for a top 4 spot, but that's not the case.

For example, the SEC champ and Big 10 champs are most likely going to get #1-2 spots. Even if they aren't undefeated, they will be ranked higher than us. The BIG 12 champ might sneak in at #3 if BYU and Iowa State keep looking strong. Now, left remaining is the ACC champ and non P4 conference champ for the 4th spot. Wasn't sure if an Army, Navy, Boise State, etc... could be ranked higher than us at the end of the season and get #4 spot if they keep playing well.

Regardless, we need to win out or only have 1 close loss to a good team, because we know the committee will not do us any favors.

I think this ends with Florida trying to hire Lashlee. Kiffin will probably lose 1-2 more games which will probably make him a bit less attractive to UF while Lashlee will keep on rolling this season.

Mario’s having a better season than DeBoer thus far on the coaching side.

@TheOriginalCane

You and I have had a lot of conversations and we see eye-to-eye on most things.

I believe that there are a lot of good coaches in first-year situations and a lot of good QBs in first-year situations who will be fantastic at some point, but there may be some transitional time before they hit their strides.

I texted my Bama alum friend (former NASCAR co-worker) and asked her if aliens had kidnapped the Bama team at halftime against UGa. Very frustrating, and I wonder if the personality differentials between Saban and Deboer are going to necessitate some time and personnel changes before Deboer can get the Bama players to respond to him the way the Washington players did.

We shall see. Very inconsistent and listless play for 2.5 games straight. That's almost 1/4 of a season. Bama had not lost 2 in a row since early in Saban's tenure, but it's only some luck and a freaky-great play against UGa that stands between Alabama and 3 consecutive losses.

He’s better now than Markel Bell who isn’t ready.
I’m by no means an expert in the art of OL play but I know Campbell got hit with two holding penalties and an unsportsmanlike conduct vs a turds DL we manhandled. I wasn’t overly impressed.

Actually - you're correct - CFP 12-team playoff seeding

  • The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and will receive a first-round bye. The fifth conference champion will be seeded where it was ranked or at No. 12 if it is outside the top 12 rankings. Non-conference champions ranked in the top four will be seeded beginning at No. 5. Because of this, the seeding, 1 through 12, could look different than the final rankings.

He’s not great but I think he’s better than Bell right now. Bell isn’t ready. Really stiff out there and very tall. The speed rushers exploit him.

@RVACane and I been saying Lagway is going to be good. The Gator should be playing him full time, but @TheOriginalCane put out a soliloquy and word salad to refute what my eyes tell me. My eyes tell me Lagway is going to be a stud.

What a thirsty and ignorant post for you to make. You just had to mention my name, because you needed your daddy to show up to spank you.

You might be one of the dumbest posters on this board. Seriously.

First, you have ignored the MANY conversations I've had with your superior, @RVACane , where he and I have agreed that Lagway is going to be very good.

Second, you are apparently still rectally-injured from my very accurate posts from a month ago when I pointed out that the SAMFORD game was fool's gold, and that Lagway was not yet deserving to be the full-time starter over Mertz, at least if Slingblade Billy was trying to win games and save his job.

Judging from the timestamp of your premature ejaculation post, you got your little chubby worked up in the second quarter when Lagway had a 17 yard completion and a 20 yard completion before turning the ball over on downs. Oh, how impressive. That, and the announcer telling you how "the ball just looks different" with Lagway.

Lagway is going to be great. That greatness may not happen in 2024, though. Sorry to bring reality into this.

Lagway's stat-line was 9/17 for 98 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and a 41.6 QB Rating.

In that amazing statistical performance, nearly half of Lagway's passing yardage (45 yards) came on that meaningless second quarter drive that ended on downs.

Mertz staked Florida to its 10-0 lead, not Lagway. And here are Lagway's drives:

1. Turned over on downs (2nd quarter, while Mertz was healthy)
2. First play interception (3rd quarter, after Mertz was hurt)
3. Turned over on downs (three incompletions on first down, second down, and then fourth down)
4. Three-and-out (third down incompletion)
5. Three-and-out (third down incompletion, that is not a mistake)
6. Four-and-out (third down sack)
7. 4 play, 31 yard scoring drive after an amazing **** punt return, with a -1 yard pass and an admittedly great 27 yard TD pass
8. OT drive that netted -4 yards and resulted in Trey Smack missing a 47 yard FG

Lagway had a total of FOUR decent passes, in what was essentially a half of play.

Mertz was the QB who had Florida in the game until late in the third quarter.

It's pretty funny that you were so jacked up by two Lagway passes in the second quarter that you felt compelled to post some premature celebratory post to pat yourself on the back for predicting that a 5-star QB was talented. Bravo. You really go out on a limb, don't you?

Unfortunately, that limb cracked under your weight in the second half.

Better luck trying to dunk on me in the future, dopey.

Markel Bell was in JuCo a year ago. He will be coached up.

And let's not forget, we chased Bell when we realized Pancake wasn't developing fast enough.

Decent save. And a certain someone will be healthy and starting next week.
