Random article i just found. The Bama boosters are over here donating $20 million, mean while the Sharpiro's are doing $2 million.

You still think teams will be dropping bags when they can legitimately pay kids. That's like a drug dealer finally going legit just to get caught up with something like tax evasion.

If I'm a kids parents, coach, guidance counselor, etc. I'm making sure contracts are signed before NLI and everything is legit.

Thats why there needs to be one. If caught breaking the cap the player is "blacklisted" and agent license taken from them. Got to make the punishment so severe that the risk isnt worth the reward. NFL needs to be on board also with the blacklisting

I don't understand this logic at all. Why would any of these "car dealerships and pool cleaning companies" want to pay random athletes? Literally only what would be the equivalent of UM boosters that own said companies would do that.

We really need to find some statistics that deal with the popularity of football (because this is a football school) in south florida as a per capita number and compare that. What you guys fail to realize over and over, and I sound like a broken record now, is that there is a huge difference in popularity of football in Bama vs here. Just because we have 500x the population does not mean that equates to the same per capita. I've posted the biggest football media markets list and Miami doesnt even scratch the top 10. Utter shame something so fundamental for all, needs legislative passage for student athletes. Because a good ol boy network wants to continue to exploit the financial potential of student athletes.

It's mutual, in particular for 99 percent of the athletes in all sports. How many go onto athletic fame? Less than 1%.

How many would get an opportunity at a higher education for free? Not many, there's relaxed admission requirements for a reason. So minus the small percentage that could get in on academics as well, as well as those who's parents can pay for it, that leaves a large portion who would come out with loans to pay back. That's if they could get in academically.

All this exploitation talk is crap. It's a symbiotic relationship that gives one an opportunity that wouldn't be realized for the normal perspective student.

Poor athletes, my heart bleeds for them and the opportunity they were provided. This coming from a D1 athlete who got a scholarship but whose grandparents also established a trust so all of their grandkids could go to school for free. It took the real world and bills to understand how fortunate I was on multiple levels.

It's pure speculation based on nothing of substance. There's not one team in Miami that fills the seats unless there's the potential for a championship. Yet all of a sudden, people are going to give a **** and we'll leave the big powerhouse programs in the dust? Some dumb thoughts being applied here.

Bag schools already have booster networks that pay more. Now, it'll simply be a business expense for some of these boosters to pay out directly through their businesses (in addition to the illegal payout system).

If they already pay more having to work around the system, I would wager the gap will widen (not lessen) in a scheme that allows them to contract directly and openly with the student athlete.

Why would some booster at Miami or VT or Duke who currently is not willing to pay recruits suddenly want to make large payments for appearance fees, commercials, etc..? But if you are a booster who is already willing to contribute $300k annually to recruit kids through clandestine means, why not recruit a kid with the promise of a six figure contract for appearances? Whether the advertising is actually a sound business investment won't matter to the people who are already willing to make those payments for, essentially, nothing.

It's a plus for Miami regardless of it helps sway kids from Bama. Even if it helps get a kid that was considering Syracuse over us, it's better than what we have now.

Sure the 5-10 5 ️ may get commercials off of hype but mostly the kids who are producing will get commercial deals. Think Baker Mayfield at OU. Or Tua after the national championship year. Most kids will still have to produce on the field before they get these opportunities.

You are thinking about this like a decent, law-abiding citizen. Try to put yourself in the position of the scumbag street agent/handler/parent and the "win-at-all-costs" wealthy booster. They will negotiate and make oral promises to the kids before signing day (to entice them to sign), and then provide them with the contract & compensation "for their likeness" after they sign.

The contract has the potential to replace the bag... in a bad way. Because who is to say what the value of someone's "likeness" is? Look how easy it is to exploit... Here's $300K as an appearance fee at my company picnic. Here's $500K and a car for a two lines in my auto dealership commercial. Here's $250K to send out a few tweets about my BBQ restaurant. The value of the deal can just as easily be dictated by the value of the athlete on an open market, not the commercial value to the business of advertising using athletes.
