One rumor...one take.

Rumor...Benny has 8 year 80 million deal possibly from the Canadian teams He's willing to take a discount to stay, plus Florida taxes, but hes getting paid paid.

My take...

Cats should trade for Stuart Skinner to backup Bob next year. 2.5M cap hit. They'll trade him for some poutine at this point and Skiiiiiiiiinner can learn to be a better NHL goalie. We have a ton of former backups that are starters now. Stu going to Bob and Bobby Lu to learn how to become great and legendary would be good for him and good for us.

Sam is priority number 1. From there, let the chips fall where they may. I want Marchy and Ekblad back, but they will have to accept massive discounts.

What I think will happen -
  • Sam - 8yrs 64M
  • Marchy - 3yrs 15M
  • Ekblad - signs with another team

In case there were any doubters, the boys had to do it twice...this time on the road for most of it and more decisively, and more impressive than the last time.

Marchy is rightfully getting his flowers...

Some other newcomers...

But Nate Schmidt was an absolute dawg. One of those dudes that hustled just a little harder because he wanted it. What a get for top line.

Seth Jones will be here for a while. He absolutely integrates into this team as well as anyone. If we let Ekblad go, this is the reason...we got that spot filled.

AJ Greer was such a culture n vibe fit here. What an *******.

They deserve special shouts.

Ekblad has lost a lot over the past few years. He is slow, hesitant to shoot or block shots, and give the puck up. No great lost here but I would keep Nate Schmidt if possible and try to sign Brad. Lets us not forget Ekblad missed 20 games due to his stupidity and hurt the organization, fans, and teammates.
