1 Aquinas (Ft. Laduerdale) Two returning starters backfilled with double-digit transfers.
2 Miami Central Nasty defense. Solid offense. Looking to four-peat.
3 Flanagan Maybe second-best D in state. New QB adds to O.
4 Mainland (Daytona Beach) District stayed south means MC in regionals.
5 IMG Academy (Bradenton) Frontline talent unmatched. Depth could be an issue.
6 American Heritage (Plantation) Lost a few kids but still 5A fave.
7 Hallandale As talented as any roster anywhere.
8 Coconut Creek Best defensive backfield in the state. Could push much higher.
9 Dr. Phillips (Orlando) Finally a legit schedule to test its talent.
10 Wakulla (Crawfordville) Returns almost everyone and was 8-3 last year.
11 Cocoa Only five seniors but loads of talented underclassmen.
12 Lakeland So much talent, Charmin soft schedule. Love the offense.
13 Manatee (Bradenton) Rumors of its demise greatly exaggerated.
14 Columbus (Miami) Not many namebrand players but will factor in 8A playoffs.
15 Venice Some think this is a Top 10 team, others not so much.
16 Apopka Losing Ivey and Cox is tough. Same gun, new bullets.
17 Booker T. Washington (Miami) Opening with Aquinas is tough with talent exodus.
18 Osceola (Kissimee) Wilson and Brown will churn out yards on the ground.
19 Plant (Tampa) QB Culpepper is best since Ely for Panthers.
20 Miramar Will it find a QB to play behind solid OL?
21 Heritage (Palm Bay) Games with Vero Beach, Bolles, Osceola measure early.
22 West Orange (Winter Garden) The evolution of QB Woody Barrett is key.
23 American Heritage (Delray) We slept on it last preseason, snoozing this year.
24 Lake Mary Solid team last few years. Risk mangament.
25 First Coast (Jacksonville) Graduated too much to justify higher placement.

Oakleaf was 12-1 last just had a full contact scrimmage with Lake Mary 2 days ago...Oaklesf beat them like a drum...even without out 3 of the starting defensive front four

I can't believe in coconut creek. They've never beaten a decent team and they lost their best player to IMG.

Coconut Creek has no business being in there.

Where is Killian? They have pieces to make runs. Despite losing guys like Jaquan, Redwine, Bowe and Davis. They still have a strong core returning in Bentavious, Collier, Wiggins and Deandre.

Where is Oakleaf, Trinity Christian and North Marion?

Bolles? Been to two straight state champs.

Carol City and Southridge will make noise as well. Previous season can obviously hurt for preseason ranking but they have talent to be top 25 this year.

Miami Northerstern is a sleeper team, you would be shocked

Not that high on the K, despite having some good prospects. They got blasted by westminster christian in 7v7 and got beat down by the first decent offense (Columbus) that they faced during last season. With Quan and others leaving, as well as Billy Rolle going over to the Ridge, I see them in a long-term decline in their talent level. I remember before Rolle got there in 2001. They had good talent like Maddox, Sean T, Bishop, Malcom Tatum, D. Thompson, but they could never put together an impressive season. This was with teams like Gulliver, Columbus, and others not hitting up the west perrine/richmond heights/and the rest of down south area like they started doing in 2000 (Darrell Sheppard going to Columbus and Sean T going to gulliver is when you really started seeing those schools raid the area).

The Creek is trash until they prove themselves.

IMG lost to a 6-4 team from DC, last year. They're just bringing a new QB, and they haven't played an elite team. Tougher schedule this year, and ****** depth. Wouldn't be surprised to see them drop further, but should be fun watching them play all of these top teams.

I like MNW, too. Problem with them is that they play in Central's district, so they won't get past the second round.

Miami Jackson might make some noise with Phillips at QB.

Bolles plays in the north section of 4A and has a joke of a road to the state title. Cocoa has been a better team and would be better served by transferring to the north section, so they could play BTW in the state title game. The last 2 years they've had close games in the semi-final. Since 2012, BTW has had walk-through's against bolles.

LOL at the writer putting double-digit transfers next to STAs #1 ranking

Central #1 over STA (Opinion)

Miami Jackson/Southridge & Northwestern are going to be sleepers this season.

Columbus will rise in the ranking, we play quality team like Booker T, Southridge, Northwestern but 10-0 :)

Should Gulliver be on this list? Just asking... With the amount of talent they have coming out in the next 2 years - I would think so. My buddy is a teacher there.

Coconut Creek has won sh*t...shouldnt be on the list....7 on 7 is not real games.

Sleeper in Broward is Deerfield Beach.

No. They have talent, but struggle against avg teams. They lost to Westminster Christian for the past two years. They've never had a close game against Booker T, so unless they change classes, they'll most likely never get to states again (as long as booker t has talent lol).

They usually have a good 7v7 team, though.

Creek's been getting a lot of hype due to their prospects, but they haven't finished over .500 since 2009.

I agree with Deerfield Beach being the sleeper.

Cause they're terribly coached. They should be embarrassed of themselves. They tie Plantation High School for worst coaching jobs in Broward.

deerfield is going to be in the mix this year...I'll be on the sidelines for their game against STA
