Huge upgrade...but you said it was the biggest coaching upgrade in recent college history.

Al Golden -> Richt

(Miami)
-NEVER won the Coastal since joining in 2004, outside a 3-way tie for first place in 2012, where we would've lost the tie breaker.
-Hadn't beat FSU since 2009
-Hadn't beat FSU in Miami since 2004
-Hadn't won 10 games since 2003
-Hadn't won a bowl game since 2006
Richt comes and we accomplish all of this. (I'm still team Richt needs to hire an OC or leave but can't deny the bottomline of what he accomplished)

(Michigan) Hoke->Harbaugh
-Tied for 7th place in the Big 10 with 5 total wins in 2014. Jim Harbaugh comes and they immediately jump to 10 wins.

(Cincinnati)
-Never won 10 games since before 1992(couldn't go back past then) and probably never sniffed success. Brian Kelly takes over from Mark Dantonio in 2007 and immediately wins 10, then 11, then goes undefeated in the regular season with 12 wins....at cincinnati (yeah, Urban Meyer boat raced this team in the Sugar Bowl with Brian Kelly jumping ship to coach ND and didn't coach them in the bowl game.)

Huh? Even with the last decommitments they still have the #4 recruiting class in the country and we have 6 more weeks to early signing day.

This board has more UGA jealousy than I’ve ever seen. Do a search on here for “UGA” or “Kirby Smart” and literally every thread over the last 2 years references those terms. Go to a UGA board and you will be hard pressed to find any reference to CMR. Miami needs need move on and stop trying to compare those two teams/coaches.

Talking about Mullen. If you took a minute from slurping off Kirby Smart you’d realize this thread started off talking about UF.

Golden to Richt is not even close. We had Golden like results 2 out of 3 seasons.

Harbaugh hasn't even won his division yet.

Cincinatti D'antonio moved from the joke of a confernace C-USA to the big east.Dantonio began that building phase. Just look at D'antonio doing more with less at MSU than Kelly is doing at ND.

People keep questioning whether or not he'll be able to recruit Florida, but he sure as **** knows what to do with athletes.

I get that they lost, but he leaves nothing on the field when it comes to getting his guys the ball in space. I'll also wager that he wouldn't be starting a holdover from the last staph in his 3rd year either.

We'll see what happens with him there, I always felt that if we hired him he would embarrass most of the ACC and absolutely shred the defense, except for the one day where he drops a stink bomb and loses to Georgia Tech 10 to 3.

Agree with you 100% , Fields blew it because he is tailor made for Mullen offense, made no sense for him to go to Georgia with Frohm

Honestly....I never felt UGA losing that game. I read someone post on here that the game was closer than some think. I felt the opposite. I think kirby got conservative and that led him for settling for being ok with kicking short FGs instead of taking more risk. Franks was not impressive and he made a decent amount of passing yards after game was out of reach.

You grasping bro. Kirby/Richt ain't done with year 3 yet.
In year 1, Richt matched Golden's highest win total. In year 2 he did something none of the previous 2 coaches did. Year 3 is pretty much Golden but it ain't over yet.
In year 1, Kirby actually had 2 less wins than Richt's previous year. Surpassed him in year 2. Year 3 ain't done, Richt has been 7-1 many times before and ranked in the top 5.

I guess we can comeback to it after the season is over. Right now though it is looking like Richt to Kirby is a much better move than Golden to Richt.
