Fletch had 12 measly carries before that game-winning drive

... and we'd produced zero TDs and a pitiful 103 yards passing with 4 minutes left in the game.

I rode the short bus to school.

Forget any nonsensical bull**** the coaches said after the game. Why, seriously, did we not prioritize the running game for the first 56 minutes?

I know 3-4 posters said run Fletcher all day in the game thread starting after the first drive. It was clear to anyone watching Fletcher was eating and ATM couldn’t stop him on multiple downs. The kid could have added another 100 on 10 more carries. Marty likely should have been given a few touches as well. Those DBs couldn’t tackle the big boys.

I think some of our resident film gurus said in the week leading up to the game that we needed to pound ATM with the inside running game. They were soft in the middle

Like a fighter going to the body round and after round and the opponent eventually caves

Maybe that wasn't cute enough for Dawson?

7 yards his first run of the game….immediate run with Toney. Punt.

10 yards to start the next drive…run to Lofton for 4, trick play Toney pass. Punt.

Next drive, Toney run on 1st down. Incomplete deep shot. 3rd and 6, may as well punt now.

Next drive starts with a 17 yard run by Fletcher. Immediate throw behind the LOS to Toney. Now we’re behind the sticks, 3 yard run, 3rd and 8, absolutely dead.

What are we doing here? The first 4 drives of the game, he had 3 carries and they went for 7, 10, and 17. And we didn’t run him back to back the whole half? Can we not find a happy medium between running successful normal plays and a gadget? We don’t need the most creative play of all time to Toney on every single drive. You’re allowed to just play normal football for a drive. Did Toney have a single target more than 1 yard down the field except for the fumble? I don’t understand. I’m all for getting him the ball as much as possible but we basically turned him into Deebo Samuel minus any downfield threat at all. Dawson does understand he’s still allowed to line him up in the slot and throw a slot fade to him, or one of 20 other situations where he doesn’t get the ball behind the LOS on a gadget play? That was such an insane game plan.

Dawson has zero feel for the game. He constantly goes away from things that work. Has no ability to get Beck rolling and build momentum with simple routes and quick releases that aren’t screens. He sucks.

If you guys thought A&M defense was good, wait until we see OSU. Dawson better stop being stubborn and run a real offense.

100%. Dawson completely blew this game big time and I like him but he really couldn't have called a worse game.

Dawson was completely lost throughout the game. Maybe one of his worst called games since he has been here. That said i'm glad he figured it out on the final drive.

Not being a **** or disagreeing but he didn’t figure anything out.

He ran the same play he ran the drive before when Mali fumbled. On the previous drive, Fletcher got 17, then we threw the ball.

On this drive, he just happened to go for 56, and there was 3 minutes left in a tie game, so any braindead monkey would continue to ride the run. But if it was any other time and score I’m sure he’d have run some reverse pass after the 56 yard run. I like Dawson but holy **** he has the mindset of a 2 year old. It’s either 100% inside zone into the A-gap, and once everyone ******* about that, now we run a Savannah Bananas offense. Buddy, chill the **** out. Putting the ball in the belly of your back who is getting 7 yards every time he touches it is ok.

Dawson is Dawson, not really a fan, he draws up some good plays but leaves you scratching your head majority of the time. Wouldn’t hurt me or make me upset if he does leave for a coaching job somewhere. We can do better offensively with coaching.

The gadget plays felt forced. Clearly A&M prioritized anything Toney related.

I liked the way we opened the 2nd half. Passes to CJ and Marion with all focus on Toney. Again we seemed to get away from that even though it was working
I was texting my friends all afternoon. The fact that Dawson thought he had to resort to some of that crap was frustrating to say the least.

Miami loses yesterday and Dawson’s seat would have been on fire. And rightfully so. You can’t win a championship with this offense. Something is wrong with it.

The Toney trick plays won’t work in the playoffs. Teams are expecting it at this point, and we aren’t playing mid ACC teams.

Also no point in giving him the rock as a literal RB in formation.

Need to keep him fresh, use as a decoy, then catch the defense off guard.

Our other WRs are capable.

I don’t think these are outlandish points.

Feel for the game has been the criticism for a minute. Being a “meathead” isn’t running the ball every time, it’s not having the feel for the game for when you should run the ball every time. Yesterday was a run the **** ball because you can and play off of that game.

Agreed on Beck, you know you need to get him rolling, took forever to get that down yesterday as we were focused on tricking them instead of beating them. Understood there was the crazy wind, but if Toney can throw it on trick plays, your big money QB1 can throw it as you described, too.

Yes, but even that drive, pass for 14. Pass for 21. Here we go.

End around to Marion, loss of 4. Why? We actually did convert that though, but why? On 3rd and 4, your running back ran for 24 yards.

And then what does he do? First and goal from the 10, Fletcher has had ONE carry on this drive to this point, you put a 190lb freshman WR in to run an off tackle counter play in the low red area. WHAT? Good lord. Toney is ******* awesome. Do we really think the best way to squeeze the most juice out of his talent is to run him off tackle in the low red area?
