Flaws UF can expose

Yes, it will be interesting. We keep hearing about the Gators trying to establish more deep balls and big plays in their practices and scrimmages..and that so far it's not going so well. So when the real games start, will they try to push the ball down field anyway and risk a lot of turnovers, or will they revert to dink and dunk football?

The only "big plays" I worry about are trick ones. There is no way Mertz will consistently have the time to set and throw deep balls with their porous OL against our pass rush. I do think Billy boy is going to try misdirection though.

I don't generally put on orange colored glasses, but pass pro was an area of strength last year and our OL should be as good or better.
We finished 17th in sacks allowed (10th among P5 teams) last year. (Dawson is my biggest concern by far against UF along with normal first game of the season concerns)

We've all watched a lot of Wash St videos of Cam from last year and there were very frequently plays where 2 to 3 DL weren't contained and he was immediately overwhelmed. "Pressure" is one thing. A complete collapse in protection as occurred frequently at Wash St last year is something different. Don't see that occurring against UF.

(And yes, fumbles can't continue.)

If I'm the DC I'm gonna load the box early, keep a spy on Ward and hope Mario Marios up the gameplan by "establishing the run" and "imposing fyzicalty." Keep it close then start bringing pressure as the game goes on and force Ward to play loose with the ball. Maybe get some turnovers.

I just hope we come out swinging and don't stop until the swamp is drained. #hesalreadydead.gif

One big area we can expose on them is their DT depth. After cam jackson and caleb banks, their DT tackle depth is pure DUDU. Lyons is out for the year and slackman has been hobbled with knee ailment and not been full go at practice for a week ( He will probably play against us, but at 75-80%). then after that its watson (can only give you 10-15 reps if that, over 400 pounds and average). Then either True freshman or converted DE less than 280 pounds. This is why i think we win.

Good thing they have no pass rushers, like literally nobody that is a threat. If they send extra, which they most definitely will have to, he will kill them.

Don’t be so sure. This guy with the Pinckney pouch yelling boone time is their team leader and best Edge.

😂

Funny too because I just spoke to UFbartstool and he seems to think DL is a strength of theirs this year.

Gainesville is very confident this will be a cake walk for them. I’m ready to put these SEC sunshine pumpers in their place

If: Kentucky/LSU/Missouri/Arkansas can score 31+ so can we

They are full of ****.

Desmond Fatson is still pushing 500 pounds and can't go for more than 3 plays in a row.

One of their best DTs is out for the season.

Slackman couldn't finish the last practice.

I realize they have a guy coming back from surgery, but he is "vying for" a starting role with Sapp.

They might have a lot of talent on paper, but I don't think DL is "a strength of theirs". Not at this point.

When we are in defense. Gators intermediate passing game will require us to tackle well in the secondary. I’m worried they will make our LBs cover a lot of intermediate routes as well which I don’t think is their strength (see Louisville last year).

Quick passes will slightly neutralize our DL advantage as well. I think we can make them one dimensional but their backup RB is talented. We clown these fools but they have the body types to be competitive in most games they play in a tough conference.

When we’re on offense: They have a big DL and I think it’s tough to know for sure what will shake out on the road in the first quarter. It’s going to be hard for them to stop all the weapons on offense but our defense did a nice job Saturday in the scrimmage. When the O is firing it has the trappings to be something special… But it is game 1 and rivalry game
in a hot and muggy Gainesville gives me some heart burn. I see a world in which we’re down 10 points heading into the second quarter but still win by two scores.

We win because of our running game and dynamic plays from Mr. Brown

38-27 Canes

Alderman at LB and using guys like Pruitt when we go with 1 less LB should help us cover those intermediate + crossing type routes. The key to me is making them 1 dimensional on offense. For offense its about Cam ultimately. If they go blitz heavy ultra aggressive Cam can make things happen with his legs when previous Miami qb's couldn't.

Interestingly the Gators were able to shut down the Vols rush last year with a light box.

I don't think they manage that against the Canes this year.

Posted about this shortly after the game was played. That **** Cam Jackson kid won the game for UF that night, he was the best player on the field.

If they give us that look and we can’t run on them/take advantage of it with our OL + Martinez then we don’t deserve to win.

People don't want us to run the ball, but I don't think they can stop it. We throw it more than we did against Clemson obviously but look what we did against those guys with no Martinez and a threat of a passing game.

Overall the article isn't terrible, but the closing thought was straight up stupid. Claiming that he's never played in an atmosphere like the Swamp right after pointing out he had really good games on the road against Oregon and Washington. Autzen Stadium is consistently ranked among the louder and more difficult stadiums to play in just like the Swamp, and Husky Stadium isn't quite up there but is still known for being a very tough road environment.
In fairness to the writer, no stadium in America or the 3rd world can compare to the nauseating smell of **** and **** on field at the swamp.

This. They may gel later in the season and win battles against a weaker OL and less dynamic QB. But Cam Jackson, Boone, Sapp and Searcy aren't getting to Ward. He won't need to wash his uniform after the game. And Martinez can more than handle himself behind our big uglies.
