Flake wants more $ for IPF and already justifying Sun Life

What's there to justify about Sun Life?

- We don't have the money to build one of our own.

- We have a long term lease with the owner there and I don't imagine he's in a rush to let us out of it.

- We don't have another option right now.

Phins place isn't ideal, but due to various reasons, it's what we've got. Until someone comes up with a plan to change that, it's where we'll be. No excuses, it's unfortunately just the way it is.

I'm not a fan of us being in Sun Life, but apparently some seem to think that Blake James should be publicly trashing the stadium we play in before we have a new place to play.

You and I don't often agree, but yes....where's the logic in that? There's a saying, don't bite the hand that feeds you and right now that is Ross. I've said several times I will never attend another game at Joe Robbie, but if they had told us to get bent, where would we be playing now?

Lmao at Blake James. He's such a spineless, unmotivated puppet. We're not going anywhere until that guy is fired. Take initiative you ****ing ******. Authority or not, put something together that you can show the new president. My mind is blown at James waiting on direction from the new president.

Right now, I don’t see a better option than Sun Life Stadium,” James said. “In my opinion, there isn’t another option out there. If there was another option, would I want to look at it? For sure. As long as [incoming] President [ Julio] Frenk gave me the approval to do it, we would investigate all possibilities.

So he's spineless and unmotivated because he's not done something that no other AD has done here? **** that guy for not getting us our own stadium. Wonderful logic there pal.
Congrats on being one dumb ****

Come on, don't be shy, and let's hear your wonderful logic at work.

First off though, let's be clear on something. No AD here has every gotten us a big time stadium of our own. So if you want to bash James for not doing so (fact, you don't know what he does on a daily basis, what ideas he may have presented that have been shot down, etc) then every AD (even those who brought us MNC's) before him is what you labeled him.

Don't be mad that your post was a prime example of opening ones mouth before they thought about it.
Hey ******, did I say anything about delivering a stadium. I said show initiative by coming up with a plan or an idea on how we can get our own stadium or how we can potentially get out of the sun life contract to better position ourself to one day get a stadium. No where did I say he needs to deliver a stadium. Coming up with a plan or proposal doesn't mean it will happen, it just shows that you have your act together when it comes to your job.

There's a big difference between coming up with ideas and plans that you put together and present to the new president and sitting on your *** and waiting for the new president to tell you to look into getting a stadium for us. Sounds like Blake falls in the latter.

Either you're really young or too stupid to understand what showing initiative is. If James can't deliver a stadium I can understand, but at least he can put something together rather than say what was in the original quote which was to sit and wait for the new president to tell him whether it's feasible or not.

For future reference don't try and get into a debate when you don't understand the basic concept in someone's post.

As someone pointed out, that Blake needs direction from Frenk is more evidence of the dysfunction that we all suspect exists. As the AD, or manager of a division, it's his job to determine the best path to success and then present such to obtain the necessary funds and support. He should be running someone's ticket office, not our athletic department.

Curious to see from others that cancelled their season tix and withheld their donation, have you heard from anyone? As a top 10% donor in the HC hierarchy for the better part of the last 20 years that didn't renew 4 tix and didn't donate this year, I haven't had one call from anyone in athletics or the HC beyond some ticket salesperson leaving a message a week after my ticket window asking if I needed help renewing. I didn't bother calling back the kid to tell him how much his employer sucked.

Last I checked, he still answers to DS.

Last I checked, you, me, nor anyone here is privy to what James may have done or not done working towards an alternative to JR.

Last I checked, Sun Life is the only answer (as was the OB for years) currently UNLESS someone comes up with an alternative plan. That brings us back to the original point, no AD has ever gotten us our own place. What's your thoughts on them?

You want to label him a clown, but you don't even know what the goings on have been behind closed doors. You can talk about initiative all you like, but I can assure you that when a new CEO comes in as Frenck is, you don't **** where you eat publicly. Publicly you say what he said or say nothing at all. What's said publicly doesn't mean Jack crap with regards to what goes on behind closed doors.

For future reference, perhaps you should clarify what you're trying to say that way someone can't call you on your b.s., then you won't have to spin it either.

Same here. Plus I wasn't in your donor category either :)

But on the other hand I wouldn't expect them to come calling anyway. What could they possibly tell me to convince me to renew coming off a disastrous season where there was virtually no changes to the staff?

“I think we’ll talk about it, but I think that’s far enough down the road that it’s going to become a reality this year,” said University of Miami Athletic Director Blake James, who also serves as the ACC’s representative on the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee. “As a group, that’s something we support.”
The early period could come in November – James said UM would lean toward that – but it is more likely to be the third week of December, when junior college players are permitted to sign.

I knew Blake was well liked within UM, but I had know idea about this. God help the Acc if he has any input.

Jesus Christ you don't know what the word initiative means do you? Seems like you don't understand the concept either. I am going off of what James is quoted as saying. If we required inside information as to everything that happens behind the scenes in an organization then there would be nothing to discuss. I quoted James for my opinion, yet you're going off assumptions as to what may or may not be happening behind closed doors. Your argument holds no weight.

I'll end the convo here as I can see you're clearly lost.

By the end of 2015, they will be the only ACC squad lacking shelter from the elements. The Gators are the last SEC program left outdoors.

INEXCUSABLE!!!

UM has the money to compete nationally in athletics, it's foolish to think otherwise. This is a school located in one of the largest growing major cities in the US with a strong national reputation and tons of funny money flowing into the school. I think where people conflate the issues is that while UM certainly has the cash, the athletic department isn't allocated remotely what it deserves or needs to be successful. I'm not sure if it is an NCAA rule or just generally accepted policy but making the AD reimburse the full value of every scholarship at a school where tuition runs over 50k a year is insane, especially considering a majority of the student body is receiving some form of FA.

While I certainly don't think UM is anywhere near the top programs in terms of the amount of money, I have a hard time believing that they are as cash strapped as people would have you believe. I think the problem comes from lack of pressure from the media and surrounding community. Sure we have the fanbase who is vocal about their displeasure with Golden and the athletic program overall, but since we tend to be much smaller in number our voices are a bit easier to ignore. I live in Birmingham, AL, which is less than an hour from Tuscaloosa and about 2.5 hrs away from Auburn. Also, I heard on the radio some time ago that people in this area consume more college football than any other area in the nation. When I tell you that these bammas are crazy about their football programs, I really mean it. There is no way that that the fans, boosters, even local media would let any of the big schools continually wallow in mediocrity. Nick Saban has won 3 national championships while here at Bama, but if he were to go 6-7 like Miami did last season, please believe they would be at his front porch with pitchforks ready to drag him out into the streets. They care just that much about their programs. Back in 2013 when Auburn beat Bama in the Iron bowl on that miracle missed field goal return, a lady in one of the Birmingham suburbs of hoover shot and killed her best friend because she wasn't that particularly upset that Bama lost. I know that is an extreme case, but you get the idea of the seriousness behind it. They are ready to put foot to *** for their programs if they aren't performing up to expectations. Not to mention that where I work (downtown Birmingham) I am about a 15 minute walk from the SEC headquarters, so that puts things into perspective even more. Miami's disadvantage is a) being in a large metropolitan area with many many options and b) having a large international community where American football just isn't very popular, therefore an afterthought to many. If the media were to put more pressure on UM for its continued mediocrity and lack of apathy towards its football program then we would begin to see them Athletic department as well as the BOT be more proactive in terms of making changes. Until there is continuous pressure coming from all fronts, then this administration will continue to move at a gradual pace in terms of getting things done.

Practicing in the heat and the rain is why we always had an edge in our National Championship days. 4th Quarter was like the 1st Quarter.
Truth. IPF is idiotic. Rain delays and cancelled practices?! Sounds like Grohlden being a *****. Until our stadium is covered we should continue taking advantage of our weather.
Having an IPF is essential now in football. Golden does not decide when to cancel practices. That is dictated by rules.. ie if lightning strikes within x number of miles you can not practice. In Florida its even more a necessity. Ask FSU what missed practices did a few years back when they opened with Clemson. Missed all but 1 fall practice and got steam rolled.

Having an IPF doesn't mean the team will never practice outside again.

It's a shiny toy for recruiting and making that kind of financial commitment to the football team is a good sign.

Hard to see the negative here, except that money should be spent towards Goldens buyout.

I've started a gofundme.com site in an effort to raise money for the IPF. There is no doubt that we can raise the money for the IPF through the gofundme site. It sickens me that we don't have one, because the lack of the IPF is what is holding our players from reaching their full potential.

Ibiswingz is a real hardcore fan. He realizes that the reason we are only winning off the field at a record rate is lack of an IPF.

Here's what I'm going to do to up the stakes. I'm going to start another gofundme account in an effort to prove that I'm a bigger fan.

I propose a gofundme loser leaves town match. Whoever raises less money must build an IPF in a remote area of Montana and live in it and never leave like The Boy in the Plastic Bubble circa 1975 with John Travolta.

I will one up Franchise. I am going to start another gofundme site to raise money for lights over the IPF.

Check!

I am not privy to UM's athletic finances, but a man who is told me "We have the money to pay for nick Saban if we wanted too..." and so on. I will continue to trust his word. I do not buy the UM doesn't have the money story. A billion dollar endowment isn't required for an IPF

UM has BOT with money but they clearly aren't giving it to UM athletics. I have no doubt if these guys wanted too they could spend the money but they never have. It's like having really rich parents that never give you any money.

More like rich parents who only give money to lazy useless kids, but not the ones who work hard and actually bring money into the family. I went through this crap with Howard. He was raising money for smaller on-campus stadium but they changed to rule on him -- it had to be money from donors who had NEVER given anything to THE U before. Anything raised from existing donors didn't count. These smucks haven't changed. To them football is just some street hooker -- good only to raise money, but never invited to the dinner table with the family.

But what about the croots?!?!?!?!?!

You are doing a fine job of crapping all over the sacred cow that Miami has the worst farns in college football.
