miami public schools dont/didnt have their own stadiums...dont know if u knew that.
Matter of fact Uncle luke edison team was the first or one of thefirst to attempt to have one n got the turf n field so they had their own games on campus...this was like 2 years ago
I remember when i played against edison in high school we played them at Curtis Park.
Miami Carol City first home game on campus ever was last week. lol
Edison never was really good just had a few years here n there with guys ..was solid when the joseph brothers were there, then corey bell (former cane coach_) did a good job with them getting transfers when i was in high school in early 200s...then uncle luke came n recruited national for them to be respectable.
Edison is usually a homecoming game historically. Their school base is mostly haitian kids that never play or care to play or arent good at it...n if they were good they wouldnt be at edison. For example Devunta Freeman was actually at Edison he TRASNFERRED into Central.
Amazing but it makes a lot of sense. As you may know some of the Atlanta and Dekalb County schools share stadiums as well. But admittedly much bigger stadiums than what we saw between Carol City and Edison. It’s just hard to believe at first because of how popular football is in Miami. But schools are resource driven and many public schools in large cities lack the resources, and lack the talent which is always being courted by suburban public schools and private schools.
It also makes sense as you explained about the Haitian population and football not being a primary driver as it is at so many other Miami public schools. Atlanta would have a similar story except that none of the Atlanta Public Schools are good at sports. At least Miami has public schools teams that can compete and sometimes even win state championships. I don’t think at APS team has won any state championship in the 30 years I’ve lived in Atlanta.

Yeah, back in my day it was Milander (Hialeah) and Miami-Dade North for most of north Dade schools, Tropical, Curtis and Harris field (Homestead) for the mid and south Dade schools with a handful of games at the OB. Hence, why Miami Dade HS football games ran from Thursday through Saturday.
Aside from the traditional 5-6 Dade powers, the remainder of hs football teams are really bad. I mean, no different or worse than any given region of country. Too many schools spreading the diminishing football demographics thin.
I thought doug, mays, and washington were pretty good in football early 2000s.
Yes miami dade has traz powell stadium , fiu north, i wanna say harris field south, milander for west hialeah schools similar to how the aps schools had like memorial stadium where they all shared to play games.
Broward schools have their own stadium.
This is why folks tell u its really amazing how goof south fla football has been through the years with the lack of resources, funding, and coaching etc.
